Today our #USCNationalFellows took a field trip to Magnolia Place, a community hub near downtown LA that brings together a network of services to support families in the area.
At @reportinghealth, we will be supporting journalism on a consequential 2025 as President-elect Trump promises to "go wild" on health -- from Medicaid to vaccines. Gifts made by 12/31 that will be matched. Text “CHJ” to 41444 or click the link to donate: bit.ly/CHJgift

We're honored to have led @boyleheightsbt for a decade with Pedro Rojas of @LaOpinionLA and @mlevander -- and proud of the community model that has always defined it. Excited for the future under the dynamic leadership of @kkelleygirl and @JessicaPerezLA2!
Excited that @USCAnnenberg is part of American Journalism Project’s L.A. Local News Initiative, joining 20 media outlets & universities in advancing local journalism. This builds off of the remarkable work of @boyleheightsbt, founded by @mlevander & @ReportingHealth. #usc #ascj

In case everything you have heard about GPT-4 was not scary enough, contemplate what happens if GPT-4 goes trolling through your private health records. @docgurley explores the possibilities: bit.ly/3noyTU6.
It's a well-deserved honor. You should not be surprised at all!
Still in disbelief that my @ReportingHealth/@ExpressNews reporting project on health inequities in San Antonio won this state award 🥹

Maternal mortality statistics do now include domestic violence deaths during or after pregnancy or suicide: "We are just walling off a part of maternal mortality," says @JoanneKenen at our Symposiu on Domestic Violence @ReportingHealth
A terrain of harm – injuries – can tell a story of domestic violence, says @JoanneKenen, at our Symposium on Domestic Violence. bit.ly/3lnvtQs @reportinghealth.
"We give a lot of credence to heart attacks or diabetes. (We say), “this is an emergency! We cannot give that same respect to domestic violence even though it is killing our patients." Dr. Anita Ravi at our symposium on domestic violence. @ReportingHealth bit.ly/3lnvtQs

In California, more than half of families have been touched by domestic violence, according to a 2017 study. Yet it is often treated as a criminal or private matter rather than a public health epidemic. Journalism can play a role in bringing about change and greater awareness.

Just met the fabulous and talented @cerisecastle who is a recipient of the @IWMF Courage in Journalism award. I know this is the beginning of a friendship here and future collaborations! #SiSePuede #WomenJournoKickAss
Very excited to share word that @CassandraGari will be joining the team here at @reportinghealth as our California Engagement Editor. She has collaborated with the Center on engagement projects and gravitated to this work since her earliest days as a reporter.
And special thanks to @BlueShieldFound
and @CalEndow for investing in new ways to help CA journalists connect with communities and rethink journalism approaches.
And thanks to @mayatmiller who is helping us get underway with National Fellows in our Data Fellowship by deepening their work with engagement!
