For years I worked with people with severe down syndrome in a group home. I saw how it tortures them. How their illness, and it is a genetic disorder, causes them immense frustration and heartbreak. It is not something we should "Normalize as good". We should love people with DS, absolutely, and realize they're people just like anyone. But they have a struggle. Just like someone with say, a bad knee, or bad back. They have a medical condition, in their case a genetic one. And being able to cure that in utero will save a lot of pain and suffering.
