Imran has been held in almost total isolation for nearly ten months, with only five visits from family or lawyers in that entire time. During that time he developed an eye infection. For two weeks he told prison authorities he could not see from one eye, and no medical help came. By the time a doctor examined him, the damage was irreversible. What frightens the family most is what Aleema believes is happening around him. Medical information about hypertension has been deliberately leaked, while images of an increasingly old and frail Imran have begun circulating. She believes a public image is being built, piece by piece, of a man whose health is naturally collapsing. That is why the family now takes one of Imran's own warnings seriously: that he could die in custody the way Mohamed Morsi died in Egypt. Aleema's argument is that Pakistan's establishment fears the millions of Pakistanis who still believe in what her brother represents far more than it fears the man himself. 🇵🇰 Former PM Imran Khan’s sons say they’re genuinely scared they could lose their father in prison. Kasim and Sulaiman spoke to Sky Sports at Lord’s, with their father’s portrait hanging right behind them. They haven’t seen him since 2022 and haven’t even spoken to him since March. And what they’re describing is brutal. They say he now spends more than 23 hours a day alone in a small cell, has lost 80% of the vision in one eye and is struggling with his health. Kasim: “They are just blatantly trying to kill him in there.” Even after the Supreme Court ordered him moved to a private hospital, his sons say he was taken to a government facility for a few hours and then sent straight back to jail. The government of course denies mistreating him and says he has food, books, TV and space to exercise. And here’s where it gets even more frustrating. After his sons spoke about all of this, the Pakistan Cricket Board complained to Sky over the interview. Forget the politics for a second. The 73-year-old will be transferred within 2 days to Shifa International hospital in Islamabad, after his lawyers raised concerns about his health, worries that have been piling up for a long time. Khan lost most of the sight in his right eye while in prison. His PTI party welcomed the ruling as "a major decision, a great blessing," urging supporters to stay calm and avoid any commotion. 🇵🇰 Imran Khan is back behind bars at Adiala Jail, hours after an overnight medical check in Islamabad. The Supreme Court ordered he be moved to a private hospital over concerns about his health, including vision problems, unstable blood pressure, and anxiety. It also ordered him kept at the hospital until his next hearing on Sept. 16. He got a few hours at a state-run hospital instead, and was back in his cell by 5am. The government had called the court's order discriminatory and filed a review petition, then cited PTI crowds as the reason for switching hospitals. His supporters accuse the government of lying, saying Imran was taken to the wrong hospital under false pretenses and held there barely 2 hours before being sent back. Vision, heart, blood pressure, anxiety, a full workup on a 73-year-old, all wrapped up in a couple of hours. No wonder his supporters don't trust the verdict. 🇵🇰 Imran Khan's personal physician says he was tricked by Pakistani authorities during last night's hospital saga. Dr. Faisal Sultan told reporters he was taken into police custody on his way to Adiala Jail, believing he was being brought to see Imran. Instead he was driven in a convoy to Shifa International Hospital, while officials acted as though Imran was with them. He says he waited nearly 4 hours, asking again and again where Imran was. Each time, he was told the former prime minister was on his way. Then they told him Imran had already been taken back to Adiala. If everything here was above board, why put his doctor in a fake convoy and leave him waiting on a patient who was never coming? Writer: Julie

Dr. Uzma Khan (his sister) says that no blood tests or further diagnostics were carried out. Khan has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since Aug. 2023, facing over 100 legal cases and convictions related to alleged corruption.
