You mean to tell me a company controlled by Peter Thiel hired people amenable to tech billionaires?!
re: the bsky drama as a user from the start, watching the admins who run it go from cool, chill, approachable folks to sociopathic AI techbros, watching them succumb to AI psychosis in real time, has been really sad and frustrating. Like it's really bad they think it has feelings

Most important election in history, just like every other election!
Obama on the midterms: “It is the most consequential election in history.” Democrats say this every election but when they get power they govern for Wall Street, the war machine, and Israel just like Republicans do. Insane how many Americans keep falling for it. There is no hope in a two-party system when both parties exist to serve capital and war, not people. The people have to make our own hope by rejecting this system and building a better one.

I need you to understand how bizarre all of this has been. Newly elected New York City mayors of the past have universally ALWAYS replaced the top police leadership to install their own handpicked choice to better assert their vision. It's usually one of their first moves. Yet Zohran; this anti-establishment poster boy ushering in a wave of socialist, radical notions and revolutionary politics, is the notable exception to this trend when he retained Jessica Tisch as NYPD Commissioner. This was the fundamental litmus test to whether he would be successful in truly fending off zionist and establishment co-option efforts/ pressure to assert their status quo in this regard. And for all the good he is doing on empowering New Yorkers economically, he failed in this specific aspect, in a way no one before him has. Jessica Tisch is a vocal, ardent and uncompromising zionist (see her past speech at the ADL), her continuation into Zohran's administration is genuinely as remarkable as it is unfathomable. For all the corrupt, crooked politics Eric Adams and his office endorsed; for all the abuses of his authority and wheeling and dealing he did particularly to cater to the mega-rich and powerful zionist class of the city; for all their vitriol and animated hostility towards Zohran and his ideological vision/ base— that he kept on such a fundamental component piece of that interest group in one of the most prominent positions within the city's political architecture— is truly astounding. Particularly given the authority she wields; the very literal monopoly on violence which has historically been used to assert not just the interests of the corporate elites Zohran claims to be confronting, but especially against agitators and aggressors attempting to break the influence of zionist power over the city and country. When he knows of her family's vast influence and ties to Israel; her father, James Tisch (chairman of Loews Corporation), previously served on the executive committee of AIPAC. Her prominent billionaire family has a overwhelming track record of funding all forms of zionist lobbying, propaganda and influence in the United States. Zohran knew there was a disproportionate bias she explicitly holds towards the zionist entity— a favorability she would invariably execute through force. And has been permitted to do so now; as recently seen with the clampdown on hundreds of protestors demonstrating against Netanyahu's presence in the city a few weeks ago. His decision to keep Tisch is eerily similar to how Obama, who came into office riding a wave of popularity stoked up by his opposition to the (Republican) Bush administration's wars overseas, retained Bush's Defense Secretary Robert Gates when he came into office. For all his campaigning on *change* and promises to end the occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan, he persisted with keeping intact one of the most integral parts of that mandate— those wars never ended as a result. Inheriting a key figure from your fierce political rival? Choosing not to replace them is not customary— to keep any cabinet member from the previous administration. Ever. Which made it so strange at the time. That you claim to be opposed in every metric to that past administration in practice and ideals, yet carry forward with a critical member from it? It seems to be the exact same phenomenon as Obama here. For all his rousing rhetoric denouncing the zionist lobby and its stranglehold; for all his promises of a cultural change to the contemporary political infrastructure— he has submitted to their demands rather than resisting them. He has seemingly taken the revolutionary fervor that existed in the city to get him into office and now it's the same old lines.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's office rejected calls from congressional nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier for NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to step down. "Jessica Tisch is the Police Commissioner and there are no plans to change that," a City Hall spokesperson told Politico.

Being a good mayor is when you give millions of dollars to support genocidal organizations.
zohran had a good statement today. he tried to participate in the most appropriate oct 7th vigil. these protests would occur nonetheless but would be less valid if he had offered material concessions to the antizionist groups he made promises to while running like disbanding the srg, and stopping illegal land sales in synagogues. he will be very popular and a good mayor regardless, but the reason there's public friction is because the antizionist movement has no inside pressure capacity or institutional power to force him into concessions like the zionist groups do.

How dare you blame someone who *checks notes* is allocating millions of dollars of public funds to support openly genocidal Zionist institutions for having a hand in that genocide.
If you’re protesting and blaming *checks notes* Zohran Mamdani for the Gaza genocide you may, you just may, need to check yourself into a mental health facility.

Nothing like allocating public funds by the millions to protect land sales that are an integral part of the genocide to send the message that you oppose the genocide. But hey, he ate at a Palestinian restaurant so it evens out, surely.

While Mamdani’s team continues to post cute pr fluff, his NYPD commissioner is targeting Palestinian humanitarian fundraising/mutual aid and Arab/Muslim Americans who support it. This is the context in which the Mayor’s racist ‘antisemitism task force’ needs to be understood.
Coordinated arrests and charges dismantle Hamas terror finance network raising funds from the United States: “The close cooperation of law enforcement and prosecutors’ offices to dismantle Alzaq’s alleged Hamas financing network demonstrates our commitment to depriving Hamas of the funding it relies on in Gaza and to commit terror attacks like the brutal October 7, 2023, massacre of more than a thousand innocent victims, including dozens of Americans,” said U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald. @TheJusticeDept @EDLAnews @USAO_MDFL @NewYorkFBI @NYPDnews justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/coo…

PSA it's a good idea to wait until Oct 15 to get your flu and covid shots bc there's typically a second "late" peak in march, and if you get the shots earlier the immunity starts to wane before then.

Giving millions of dollars to Zionist institutions is not "a good way to show most normal people" that those institutions are bad, actually.
Replying to @soulkhan
i guess it’s a good way to show most normal people that a lot of these institutions including those zohran is funding are entirely invested in defending israel’s genocide and not protecting jewish americans. maybe i’m trying to find a silver lining.

Imagine if during the 1930s Holocaust, we had entire institutions and their politicians speak about anti-German violence and how we should do everything we can to stop it.
The Talmud teaches that anyone who sustains one soul, has sustained an entire world. For generations, Jewish New Yorkers have sustained our city. Today, we are launching the first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism. Together, we will ensure Jewish New Yorkers are safe and celebrated. We will invest in their protection, their history, and their future. Our safety and our thriving are tied together.

So basically their definition of “antisemitism” is people protesting outside of synagogues where they’re selling stolen Palestinian land, and Mamdani is just making it easier for them to continue doing it.
Mamdani admin releases “first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism” taking a “whole-of-government approach.” Gives $6.4M to Partners Against the Hate (PATH) which funds JCRC, $1M to increase security at houses of worship. Full here: nyc.gov/content/dam/nycgov/m…

Mamdani knows the NYPD and ADL call pro-Palestinian speech “antisemitism.” So when he pours more money into “fighting antisemitism,” who does he think they’re going to come after? This is funding to criminalize anti-Zionism, with a progressive mayor’s signature on the check.
