The original due date for Tesla’s response was September 30, 2026. On September 18, 2026, Tesla requested an eight-week extension with a new deadline of November 20, 2026. Tesla attributed the need for additional time to “the voluminous nature of the request, and the need for Tesla to conduct a diligent search of records, review material for responsiveness and privilege, and organize and prepare information into thorough narrative formats in response to each question.” On September 22, 2026, NHTSA granted Tesla a 30-day extension. While we respectfully maintain that our certification of these vehicles was made in good faith under a reasonable and logical reading of the FMVSS,1 we recognize that NHTSA’s position is that certain human operated controls (e.g., hand and foot controls) and human driving visibility aids (e.g., windshield wipers and mirrors) are required for ADS-DVs, and its belief is that the robotaxi is not compliant with its reading of these standards.2 After recent conversations with the agency, we have decided to submit this request for exemption in order to resolve this matter. We are making this request with the understanding that Zoox will continue to operate its existing robotaxis on public roads during the pendency of the exemption. Thanks to the Explorer that turned in front of us, I was prepped to disengage TACC (foot hovering over brake) That reduction in reaction time likely prevented taking out the Prius with our @cybertruck

If the deceleration seems a bit lacking, the reason we were using TACC vs FSD (Supervised) was the 9k trailer we were towing No sway, no jack knife 👍 Is the increasing deceleration a result of Brake Boost?

Weighing in on the Michigan Western game because, why not tl;dr; The game clock cameras were right, but the field footage was a half second behind on the broadcast On the broadcast, the stadium game clock insert goes from 9 to 8 around 0.5 seconds after the snap. The clock had been reset to 9 seconds before the play so there should have been a full second before the transition to 8 That indicates the broadcast field camera feed was running 0.5 behind the game clock feed. Snap, clock starts, 0.5 seconds later we see the snap happen, 0.5 seconds later the clock ticks to 8 Going frame by frame, the touch was 8.5 seconds after the snap (definitely within 9). When the touch was seen on the broadcast, the game clock camera showed 0 because the view of the play was delayed that 0.5 seconds The official's replay system was properly synchronized between the field view cameras and the game clock camera which showed 1 second left (which is any amount of time between 0 and 1)
