This is true. Everything the Pope does is the Magisterium. The Pope sneezes, religious submission of intellect and will. In fact, they don't tell you this, but we're even bound to agree with the Pope's private thoughts.
Curia cardinal links opposition to 1986 Assisi prayer meeting to ‘schismatic rupture’ Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad has linked traditionalist opposition to the 1986 Assisi interreligious prayer meeting to a “schismatic rupture” and argued that the event now forms part of the Church’s ordinary Magisterium ✍️@NiwaLimbu1988 advaticanum.com/article/curi…

I'm old enough to remember parish priests in the pulpit warning people not to bring rosary beads to Mass. Despite their "people of God" nonsense, the reform was a clerical power grab. They essentially declared lay devotional life wrong. Persisted till Mother Angelica arrived.

My understanding is that this was added as a response to the sex abuse scandals. I recall a number of bishops suggesting it and in some places mandating it. But, I would suggest that it doesn’t have to matter to you or me. What matters is that it makes sense to the people in the parish. There are any number of devotions I don’t “get.” However, it’s an important cultural and affective expression of the local faith. What fits that ought to be preserved and bishops ought not try to hard for absolute unity in practice across a diocese. Each community has different needs and a different personality. If I were a bishop what I would have done is ask the priests to discern with their people over the course of some period of time to see if the practice was understood, implemented well, and consonant with the spiritual life of the parish. Each priest would submit a report of those findings and then I would encourage the priests to continue where it is good, deprecate where it was bad, consider other ideas for public devotions where it was favorable but ambivalent, etc. Instead we are forced to swallow draconian dictates that are formed by poor theology and worse pastoral practice to accommodate visions of superficial unity and the anxieties of guys that resented having to pray a common rosary in seminary/initial formation.

I would more than welcome an attempted canonical process for the removal of office as a pastor on the grounds that I “prayed with my people after Mass.” The absurdity would be astounding.

But the smart ones wouldn't remove you for that, they'd say there were financial irregularities and not release the evidence.

“If you have such an allergic reaction to the rabbis, please go Eastern Orthodox”
I don’t normally engage with the comments section much. But I notice that the majority of guys down there seem to think that in my earlier post somehow I wasn’t aware of the Septuagint, which is kind of funny. So, let’s walk through this. If you reread my post again you will see that I am addressing the Protestant church, or more specifically the Reformed. On Scripture, Westminster 1.8 reads “The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), and the New Testament in Greek (which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired by God, and by his singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical; so as in all controversies of religion the Church is finally to appeal unto them.” You can’t hold this and insist on an Old Testament from the LXX at the same time. The cry of the Reformation was ad fontes, back to the sources. The source of the Old Testament is the Hebrew text. And the Protestant church has been built on that assumption that we are going back to the source. I don’t think most of the guys commenting below have thought very hard about the implications of abandoning the Hebrew text. They are trying to get away from the Jews so hard, but what they don’t see is that it will cost them their Protestantism. Now, yes, you can get a Bible with an Old Testament that is a translation of from the Septuagint. But you will gradually cease to be a Protestant, and you will instantly cease to be confessionally Reformed. So, by all means, if you have such an allergic reaction to the rabbis, please go Eastern Orthodox. Our churches will be better off. But what you can’t do is continue using your ESV, or your NKJV, or your KJV, or whatever modern translation you use, while pretending that you are not relying on post-70 AD rabbis for your Bible. Also, one quick note about Jerome and the Vulgate. No, the Vulgate is not translated from the Septuagint. Jerome had started with a translation from the Septuagint, but he became convinced that the Septuagint had been corrupted by anti-Christian sentiments by the rabbis. So, he went back to what he termed the Hebraica veritas, the Hebrew truth and translated his Vulgate Old Testament from there.
