for as long as beat reporters have been around, they’ve asked athletes a very similar range of questions and it’s their job to ask them these questions. post-game media is transactional and not conversational, you’re not going to get hard-hitting and thoughtful dialogues
you’re gonna get “tell us about that goal” and “what do you guys need to do to capitalize on X Y Z” and you’ll also get a lot of quote farming bc that’s what gets clicks and their job is to get clicks
