ππ Learnings from @DevRelUni Cohort 2:
@buzea200 β
#1 30-60-90 Day Plan: Talk to the team, stakeholders, community, etc. Immerse yourself in the product, build a quick start guide, and do a zero-to-hero project. Set KPIs to align with the company's goals with a clear path to make developer engagement measurable.
@michiel_mulders π#2 Technical Documentation: Leverage robust search (check for click position + analytics). Create optimal learning journeys for different levels of users. Create interactive content β reduce local setups β leverage quickstarts. It is key that your docs are simple and flawless; devs are a tough audience, and presentation is everything. There are trade-offs between self-hosted platforms like @docusaurus and a product like @GitBookIO, depending on whether you have a dedicated team. Consider different content types, such as tutorials, how-to guides, explanations, and references. Collect feedback using tools in the docs and gather feedback every 1/2-1 year (interviews/surveys).
@0ceans404 π#3 Events: Leverage events for announcements and go deep on a topic that is topical to the broader event theme. Further company goals and (quantitatively) measure analytics, gather attendance + registration leads, engagements (qualitatively) quotes, conversations, and feedback. Leverage hackathons for technical audiences and gain product feedback directly from builders. Promote, post, co-market, lead capture, and gather feedback. Create clear reports to show ROI, pass leads to teams like BD, and feedback to the product team.
@dabit3 π#4 Brand & Community: Build something useful and make sure it works. Improve your docs and create a private Telegram group for the best developers in the ecosystem and a Discord server for technical questions. Have people advocate on your behalf. Be helpful to anyone, and be honest about tradeoffs. Building a personal brand is a must, hire someone, and also hire people for what you are weak at.
@VittoStack π#5 OKRs and KPIs: Focus on an amazing experience and do things that don't scale. Turn your funnel into an orbit and define + measure different levels of engagement. Set SMART north star metrics. Be open to change. It's much better to record a tutorial than speak at a panel. Tweets are temporary, but video content can be evergreen, and developers will always go to documentation.
