Wrong. Medupi/Kusile are now probably exceeding R1.50/KwH after all the cost overruns. Wind in round 4 REIPPP was 82c/KwH and solar PV was 100c/KwH. Given global trends, a round 5 would probably come in under 60c/KwH.

Where will Eskom find the money to buy this electricity when they aren’t selling enough to cover operating costs? Also the IPP costs are far higher than what coal costs
