“There was an honesty to ranch work I appreciated. A broken fence didn't lie about being broken. A cow didn't pretend to like you. The weather didn't care who you'd once been. Work needed done. You did it. Simple. Simple as war had been."

Sara is a psychiatrist in a small hospital, about to leave for a better job when she decides to take one last patient. The mysterious young man, who is evasive at first, decides to open up the doctor. It doesn’t take long to learn that the patient is not what he seems, and may not be in Sara’s care by accident.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

My ELA students claimed to hate poetry until I started asking them about their favourite musical artists. Suddenly, they all love poetry.
I'm doing a poetry analysis lesson this week using @BrotherAli and his song "Us".
So far, they're loving it and seem to be getting so much out of it. I can't wait to see what they do with a song of their own choosing.

I've just submitted my latest WIP to some literary agents. I really don't know why I do this to myself. Well, actually, I suppose I do. Some people get noticed. There's always that faint hope I might be one of them.

Ok I just reread this book and except for 2 annoying typos I think it’s currently my favorite.
Fast.
Tight.
Terrifying.
I’ve never been more grateful for someone who once made me so angry.
Thank you Alyssa.
“What if we bet.”
“Bet?”
“Yeah, like a wager. If I win, then you pour me a glass of your favorite beer.”
“And if I win? What could possibly be in it for me?”
“I’ll leave, come back when you open and bring my wife, and we’ll both leave glowing reviews for your business.”
Alyssa’s eyes narrowed. “What’s the bet?”
“I bet that you really do believe in ghosts.”
“What?” Alyssa tried to stifle her laughter.
“Not only that, but I get that you’re scared of them.”
“Ok,I will take that bet. Now tell me genius, how do you expect to prove it?”
The man smiled as if he was already drinking the cold brew. “Take me down into the back basement.”

So the man who criticized Ozzy Osbourne in the days after his passing is now criticizing James Hetfield for speaking common sense? Pretty sure we all know who the "prick" is here, don't we?!
Yes, we've all known for a long time that Roger Waters is a prick, or worse, but the irony in him saying that others should have more empathy when he has publicly shown none, isn't lost on me.

Meet Marlene Herz.
Jewish. Middle-aged. Beautiful. Hiding in a freezing cabin on the edge of Dachau, 1945.
Her husband — one of Germany's top physicists — betrayed the Reich to save her. Now the Gestapo is blackmailing him: pay, or she goes to the gas chambers.
She's not the weak one. She's the reason he hasn't fallen apart.
THE WOLF'S DEN — Dachau, 1945.
