جسی واترز درباره تحقیقات فدرال روی ایلهان عمر (#پدر_تونلی) میگه:
مقامات فدرال DNA ایلهان عمر و پاسپورت شخصیش رو گرفتن. این بخشی از یک تحقیقات گسترده درباره کلاهبرداری مهاجرتیه. اتهام اصلی اینه که ممکنه با برادرش (احمد نور سعید) ازدواج کرده باشه تا بهش کمک کنه گرین کارت بگیره (که البته نتونست از اون طریق بگیره). DNA قراره ثابت کنه آیا واقعاً برادرشه یا نه.
طبق گزارش نیویورک‌تایمز، پیامکهای خانوادگی (از گوشی خواهرش) باعث شد حکم بازرسی خونه‌اش تو واشنگتن صادر بشه و مامورهای HSI برن اونجا.
از اون طرف، جیمز کامر (رئیس کمیته نظارت) میگه گزارش مالی عمر خیلی مشکوکه. قبلاً ارزش دارایی‌های شوهرش (مربوط به یه شرکت و یه شراب‌سازی) رو تا ۳۰ میلیون دلار زده بودن، بعد اصلاح کردن و کردن زیر ۱۰۰ هزار دلار و گفتن اشتباه حسابداری بوده. کامر میگه شراب‌سازی خانوادگیشون بشکه‌های خالی شراب فروخته (یعنی انگار یه جور کلاهبرداری یا پولشویی بوده).
در کل، تحقیقات داره جدی‌تر میشه و شامل موضوعات مهاجرتی، مالی و حتی احتمالاً کلاهبرداری‌های دیگری مطرح بشه ولی هنوز اتهامی رسمی مطرح نشده، اما مدارک داره جمع میشه.
