Recruiter Tip of the Day: Be wary of a Recruiter who wants you to sign a Right to Represent (RTR) document. That can be really limiting for you, for goodness sake read what they want you to sign and if you are not comfortable with it, don't. You have many other options.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: Interview attire still important. Dress a step above company's usual dress code. Don't be too casual. I have seen people not get jobs due to wearing jeans, shorts, rumpled shirts, etc. Look sharp, be sharp. Ask your recruiter for guidance on this.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: Different strategies here, and not that chasing the money is a bad strategy, but chase the skills too. I see folks who make good salaries, then the layoffs happen, and left wondering where do I go from here. Chase the skills.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: Ask your recruiter what referral bonuses you are eligible for. Many Recruiting agencies will pay you for your referrals if they get hired and we love paying bonuses out. If you have friends or neighbors or family in IT especially, can be a win-win

Recruiter Tip of the Day: At the end of your interview, ask for the job. Many people don't close. Not easy to do always, but ask for the job. Or close with a question such as "Is there anything you heard that tells you I am not the one for this job?"

Recruiter Tip of the Day: I see some job candidates who come to job interviews obviously very prepared. And I see some who just show up and 'wing it'. Take a guess, who usually makes a better impression and more often than not, gets that job?

Recruiter Tip of the Day: If you are relocating to a new city, part of your strategy should be to align with a local, trusted Recruiter agency who can steer you to or away from companies. Recruiters have relationships in that new city that you might not. Research and connect.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: Contracting (Consulting, Headhunting) firms do offer other benefits you might not think we offer. Paid Days off, work/life balance, flexibility, paid training if you ask, 401k and matching, health benefits, and moral support. You are not just a number

Recruiter Tip of the Day: In IT, resume should be fluid, meaning, change it depending on the role you are applying for. Not falsification, but tailored to what a company wants to see. Okay to have multiple versions of your resume, add, take away. Not a one size fits all world

Recruiter Tip of the Day: You may be on the job hunt b/c of a horrible current or recent employment situation. Maybe it's okay to tell your recruiter some of this detail, DON'T go in depth in an interview with an end company. Negativity can be sensed from a mile away.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: If you run into someone who says 'don't work with recruiters, they are not in it for you,' based on their personal experience. I can about guarantee you they have just worked with the wrong recruiter.

Recruiter Tip of the Day: Feedback from your recruiter is a great opportunity. Don't ignore. I have seen this work both well and poorly. When it works well, you may get that job you might otherwise have missed, because you accepted the feedback of your recruiter and improved
