Nigerian women are not ready for this conversation

The music industry doesn't discover artists anymore. Communities do. Labels just sign what the internet already approved.

Respect artistes a little more. Before a song gets to your ears, money has gone into production, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, videos, marketing and things people never see. Every release is a financial risk. The music may be free to stream, but it was not free to make.

Other countries appreciate our music more than us. We’ve been spoiled with so much good music over the years that we no longer value it
Artistes, when you start to gain motion, beware of these crocodile "industry players" who will want to reap where they did not sow.
They will poison the hearts of rising artistes, leading them to fight with their managers and record labels, hoping to swing in and take control.
Note, they cannot deliver anything for you.

The music industry was doing so well, until so many people tried using it as a get-rich-quick-scheme.

Bring back music videos like these please. Tired of Cuban cigars and half naked girlies.
These crazy people disturbing the peace of Nigerians are not Bandits. THEY ARE TERRORISTS!
Calling them bandits reduces the weight of their crime. And that’s why when they are caught, they would be served little punishments and released back into the community.
I have no dog in the fight, but what I'm learning from the details shared today is, the entry level for the Nigerian music industry is now set at 18 years old.
As in this case and the Muyeez one, if you can sign a deal as a 'minor' and run to the law to void it as an adult, then nobody will ever sign any artists before they turn 18 again.
Meaning, to sign a 16 or 17 year old to your record label is unlawful.

Na because record label owners no dey come online come shalaye na wetin make una dey think say artists dey always dey right. And once those artists run campaign to change narrative, e go stick.
Don Jazzy once said he budgets between 100k-200k dollars to break out an artist. Mind you, not all artists eventually break out like Rema, Ayra, Asake, Fireboy, Tiwa, and other notable ones that broke out from a label.
What this means is that, even with the knowledge of the music business, you are still gambling with your budget. I can list 20 artists under popular labels who didn’t break out. Na the label boss go chest the L.
They do so much for these artists. Feed them, cloth them, provide shelter, among other things.
Then tomorrow, artist wey no read contract well go come blow, him eyes go come tear say label dey rip am. If e easy why you no blow on your own? Why you sign deal?
Currently watching The Rookie. The producers did a bad job with Officer Nolan. The man keeps getting into new relationships without telling what happened with the old ones. That’s not good enough. 🤦🏽♂️
