A University City High School student has died after being accidentally stabbed with a pair of scissors during class earlier this month.
"We are heartbroken to confirm that the student passed away from his injuries today," the school district and police department said in a joint statement.

St. Louis Zoo's Asian elephant calf Jet receives a groundbreaking vaccine.
The vaccine fights against EEHV: a viral infection that affects both wild elephants and elephants in human care.
Kenzi, a 6-year-old Asian elephant who lived at the St. Louis Zoo, died from the infection in 2018.
Jet is one of the first Asian elephants in the world to receive the new vaccine, which was developed at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.

Cahokia teachers approved a new contract today, ending a weeks-long fight with the district. About two-thirds voted yes. The deal adds money in its final year and keeps job-bidding language. The union says it will keep pressing the school board over district finances.

UPDATE: The Missouri Supreme Court found at an afternoon hearing that Secretary of State Denny Hoskins was in contempt of court, but that he purged such contempt by directing the use of the 2022 congressional map. A written order will issue later.
