Menin calls for an antisemitic hate crime investigation over what appears to be a targeted vandalism of a banking corporation that invests in Elbit Systems.
The basis for such demand implies, antisemitically, that opposing bank investment choices is a prejudicial attack on Jews.
The vandalism and destruction at the Capital One branch on 86th Street is deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
I have been in contact with the NYPD regarding this incident and have urged an immediate investigation, including whether this is a potential antisemitic hate crime.
There is no place for hate, intimidation or violence in New York City.

Incredibly sleazy and irresponsible. Good to know it’s open season for anyone to do anything and blame their enemies and then put the burden on said enemies to condemn the thing they had nothing to do with. Healthy and workable standard moving forward.
Today, I received a threatening letter at my Grand Rapids, Michigan office that contained unidentified white powder. The letter, which claimed to be from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), made a direct and specific reference to an impending “civil war” beginning after the election. The letter sent to my office is similar to those received at other congressional offices across the country. The DSA has not yet addressed the attacks, either to condemn them or to take or deny responsibility. The Grand Rapids Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded immediately.
Threats and extremism are not signs of strength—they are signs of a weak mind and weak character. Political intimidation has no place in our democracy, and leaders must condemn it, not excuse it. I’ll keep standing up to bullies on the right and the left.

Our office was evacuated, and I’m grateful that my staff is safe.
I want to thank the Prince William County Police and Fire Departments, as well as federal law enforcement, for their swift response and professionalism.
Political violence and intimidation have no place in our democracy. Those responsible must be held accountable.
