In 2022-2023, 895 liver transplants took place in the UK. A liver transplant is the second most common transplant globally, following kidney transplant. Today is #WorldLiverDay, a day of raising awareness about the vital role of the liver.

We are sad to hear that Sir Roy Caine, who performed the first liver transplant in Europe has died aged 93.
