Once I was at a music festival and I looked up and I was surrounded by the House x Techno bomber jacket — a jacket I had seen in my own Instagram feed. The algorithm knew me — knew all of us — and I was seeing its effects IRL.
But what does this phenomenon mean for our culture at large? How can it be that algorithms seem to be shrinking and expanding our horizons at the same time? How will generative AI impact culture? What makes a human curator irreplaceable?
