'The constitution' is the way the civil service stops ministers doing anything - even Labour ministers. Very honest by @darrenpjones - he agrees with Reform we need to abolish the Cabinet Office and change incentives to make civil servants serve the public. politics.co.uk/2026/10/darre…

I despair. Will the the PM stop blaming our world leading education system for the NEETs crisis. Labour needs some self-reflection. Their failure to reform welfare, their tax blunders, and backbenchers demanding more benefits rather than tackling worklessness might just have something to do with it. I agree that fewer young people should be funnelled into university degrees that leave them saddled with debt and few prospects. But this Government has zero plan to tackle dead-end degrees. We do. Instead, the PM wants to take a sledgehammer to our education system, sorting children from the age of 14. This is a tried and tested formula for failure.

🚨226 children, some as young as 11 years old, are about to be given £500 worth of shopping vouchers by the UK Government in order to undertake a puberty blockers trial, placing them on a pathway to infertility. This is the medical scandal of our time. jamesesses.co.uk/p/state-san…

Thousands of pink-footed geese migrate to Loch Leven, Kinross-shire from Greenland and Iceland in each autumn and winter, making the area one of Europe's top inland wildfowl sites. 10% of the global population of pink-footed geese arrive at the loch. It’s a beautiful sight.

Why has Tate Britain subjugated itself - and its art - to a former Vogue editor?…my piece in @ObsNewReview

HYPOCRISY 101? ⤵️ “ABOLISH THE HOUSE OF LORDS!” - Neil Kinnock, 1976. Fast-forward to today… enjoying the ermine, the title and that nice fat taxpayer-funded Lords’ salary? 😂 Funny how principles change when the perks are yours, Neil. 🤔

Britain is now living with levels of worklessness that would once have been treated as a national emergency. Yet because so much of it is now recorded as incapacity rather than unemployment, we have gradually come to accept it as a fact of life. dailymail.com/news/article-1… That cannot continue. We need a new generation of welfare reform that restores opportunity, breaks the cycle of dependency and helps people back into work.

It’s reported that Simon Case got a £200,000 severance payout and a peerage. Sir Chris Wormald got an £860,000 payout and a peerage. Now Sir Olly Robbins is reported to be getting a bumper six figure payout too! Number 10 is showering Whitehall severance golden goodbyes as if money grows on trees! Starmer creates mayhem and then walks away and we are picking up the tab! This madness has to stop!!

And Simon Case was made a Life Peer last year after letting this kind of thing happen over and again on his watch ?
Who interviewed him? Are the unqualified hiring now-days? @UKCivilService

STATEMENT I am aware that ITV infiltrated the Portsmouth Reform UK branch for their undercover report. I am featured in their documentary. Not in a bad way, in my opinion, but still featured. I’ll get to that in a minute…. What I am more shocked and disgusted in is that I now know who the two reporters were whom infiltrated us. These two men campaigned with us in March/April in Portsmouth and it leads me to wonder whether their interference in an election is a potential criminal offence. We have no way to know whether they posted flyers they were meant to. Or whether they gave us correct door knocking information. They campaigned in four seats specifically where, in 3, we lost by a small number of votes. Their involvement would have had an impact on the result. By default ITV could have literally paid reporters to ruin an election result for Reform UK candidates. That has to be criminal. On a personal level I allowed these men in my home. I made them drinks. They met my dogs. It’s an entirely disgusting invasion of personal privacy. I have photos of these men and know who they are - I will not disclose them at this stage but may in the future once I’ve gotten advice In relation to my involvement with the documentary I remain firm in everything I personally said. I was never a member of the Portsmouth Patriots, as the documentary states, but I have supported their movement over the years from the sidelines. The executive team who run them are good people. Yes outside third parties have come in and done some abhorrent things. Those people should be condemned. But the local group themselves are decent, passionate, local residents who care deeply about their community. I’m appalled by ITV and hope they are held to account for their potential criminal behaviour and election interference. The two reporters involved in infiltrating Portsmouth I hope are held to account for their personal actions in the outcome of elections. The money, resources and time spent by companies and individuals to damage Reform UK are unprecedented in our political system - you have to ask yourself why?

Val McDermid seeks to terrify us into submission with a bookcase that looms darkly behind her like her personal demonic guardian. Close inspection reveals numerous duplicates and books shoved into spaces anywise. A misshapen horror, then, but credibility isn't always pretty.

Women have a necessary right to single sex spaces. It is quite remarkable that this group thinks they do not. Women are entitled to be free from men for privacy, dignity and safety. “Woman” is not a concept in a man’s head, it is a lived reality.

Huge thanks to Sandie Peggie, the Darlington nurses, Faye Russell Caldicott, Jennifer Melle & all courageous healthcare workers who stood up for women’s rights to single-sex spaces. Their bravery helped make this happen: NHS England tells hospitals to bar [men] from female wards.

Parliamentarians can hold different views but remain close friends. Here, five of us - Conservative, Labour & Independent - were together on a charity walk across Morecambe Bay. What united us was a profound belief in the supreme human right, the sanctity of and right to life. Two have now been murdered, two have died. I count myself privileged to have been a friend of Sir David Amess, Ann Widdecombe, Ken Hargreaves and Jim Dobbin. All pictured here. All so greatly missed. @KatieAmess @UKParliament @CommonsSpeaker @EdwardLeighGB
On the fifth anniversary of the murder of my good friend Sir David Amess, killed doing his job as an MP, I'm thinking of his family. David was unfailingly kind & treated everyone equally. In our democracy, everyone should be able to go about their work without fear of violence.

Doctors harm children with unevidenced treatments. Safeguarding leads try to raise the alarm. Senior doctors silence and punish them. The doctors' regulator doesn't see a problem. The rot is too wide and deep for individual cases. We need a public inquiry.

🚨 NHS England publishes new guidance putting biological reality at heart of patient accommodation and staff facilities Bethany Hutchison, President of the Darlington Nursing Union, said: “Biological sex is not an optional belief. It is a material reality and, following the Supreme Court’s judgment, it is the basis upon which sex must be understood in equality law. We therefore welcome this clear and necessary guidance from NHS England. “The test now is whether NHS trusts will actually follow it. Too many NHS institutions have been ideologically captured on these issues, leaving frontline women to defend rights and protections that their employers should have upheld from the outset. “The Darlington nurses should never have had to take their own employer to court to secure privacy, dignity and lawful single-sex facilities. Enforcement cannot continue to depend on the courage and personal sacrifice of individual nurses. “NHS England, regulators and trust leaders must now ensure that every NHS policy is brought swiftly and lawfully into line with this guidance, the EHRC Code and the Supreme Court’s ruling. There must be clear oversight, meaningful accountability and consequences for trusts that refuse to comply."
