In June, @SamAsante and I launched Typeahead, the first product from our new company. Today we're releasing our next Mac app. It's called Beam, and we're live on Product Hunt. I've got Macs all over my house doing different work. Some run agents and local models. Others handle builds. When I want to use one app on another Mac, I usually end up navigating a whole second desktop through Screen Sharing. Beam brings that app's window onto the Mac I'm using. It gets its own Dock icon and shows up in ⌘Tab. I can type into it and resize it while everything keeps running on the other Mac. Sam has put a lot of care into making this feel natural. The video shows it better than I can explain it. Live on Product Hunt → producthunt.com/products/bea…

XMTP + World makes messaging open, private, and human. Finally. For the past 15 years, messaging has been broken: 1. It's fragmented. Why do I need 5 apps? 2. It's not private. Apple, Meta, and Google can read your messages. 3. It's riddled with spam and bots. XMTP and World solve all three. XMTP is an open protocol for messaging where any app can interoperate with any other. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, unreadable to anyone except you and the person you're talking to. And now World adds proof-of-personhood, so you know you're talking to a real human. The next 15 years will look very different.
World Chat: a messaging app for humans. End-to-end encryption, global payments and Mini Apps inside conversations. Secured by @xmtp_ Try World Chat: world.org/worldchat

3 1/2 years ago I sent a DM to @chintanturakhia about Coinbase Wallet. Seeing @xmtp_ and @baseapp launch today and look like this screen below couldn’t make me prouder of our team members and the persistence and patience it takes to do hard things. Proud today. Day one.

This is the most significant upgrade to the XMTP protocol since its inception. As of today, XMTP is now a fully quantum-resistant decentralized messaging protocol. We are playing a different game. We care deeply about protecting privacy for everyone in the world. Our CTO, @nickmolnar, said it best: "We fundamentally believe that the most private network is the one where nothing is hidden."
As of today, XMTP is now a fully quantum-resistant decentralized messaging protocol. This means, any developer, anywhere in the world can leverage XMTP to provide their users with private, decentralized, & quantum-resistant messaging.

Not your keys, not your messages. @xmtp_ allows you to take your messages with you, to any app, with your key. Everyone else locks you in.
X's new encrypted DM system stores your private keys on X-owned services, protected with nothing more than a 4-digit PIN. If hostile, or if legally compelled, X could easily decrypt all your messages. It's also MITMable and doesn't secure your metadata. Use Signal instead.

We’ve been thinking about launching a “pre-launch” community for Convos but actually using our product just knowing it’s early access. Be an owner of the future, shape it, get your username, and help us shape the future of private and secure communication. Would you join?
Today at @digg we're launching Groundbreakers; a pre-launch community that will help shape the future of the platform. Connect with others, see early designs, and provide feedback. Also, you get to snag your username early. Check the link in my bio for more.

AI is going to explode generic crap and mediocrity. Beware. Greatness is still going to be hard and rare. Building something people want is going to be harder too, more noise same amount of attention.

Combine harvesters weren’t accessible to everyone with an internet connection. They made farmers 10x more efficient, but they didn’t enable 10x more people to farm A world where “anyone can farm” is new. It’s more comparable to how the internet enabled anyone to publish. Are there fewer journalists today? I suspect the gap between highly paid engineers and “everyone else” will continue to grow, but the future has 100x more people “programming”
Software engineers are highly-paid farmers, tending their crops by hand. We just invented the combine harvester. The world is going have a lot more food and a lot fewer farmers in very short order.
