It turns out we are rooting for more than just laundry.
The names on the back of the jerseys matter.
NY sports fans have a reputation for being difficult.
But if you give them your heart and soul, they won’t forget you.
It’s understandable for the current group of Mets to feel confused or frustrated by the fans’ performance over the past two nights. You could say it’s about time they feel the way we often feel about them.
But, really, these Mets should take solace in the admiration towards Pete.
It shows how much we care about the actual player and not just the uniform they wear.

It was time to move David Peterson, but he was better than most people realize.
In 42 starts from May 2024 through Aug 2025, he had a 3.29 ERA in 268 IP - which puts him about 25th-35th in MLB over that span (on par with Max Fried, Chris Sanchez, Logan Gilbert). No doubt he will benefit from improved infield defense in Chicago. #RunPrevention
Zach Short is a career .172 hitter who hit .167/.527 in 23 games w Detroit this season. He has 15 career HRs.
In related news, Wilmer Flores is slashing .311/.891 in the Mexican league right now. He had 16 HRs w SF last season.

Ron Darling’s insights are great. He pointed out that the prior pitch was tight inside, and McLean offered Buxton a “my bad”. Ron said the apology tipped Buxton off that the next pitch wouldn’t be inside - and then he homered on an outside pitch.

Over that span, his 3.29 ERA puts him on par w Max Fried (3.25), Logan Gilbert (3.23) and Christopher Sanchez (3.32).
