Hello! 👋🏼 @hellospacething here! If you know me already, you’ll know I love space rocks! For those who don’t, guess what - I love rocks from space! I also display meteorites & take my workshops along to astronomy and STEM events across the country. Come say ‘hey!’ ☄️

Just over 7 years ago, I was in Japan when @haya2e_jaxa launched into space. This morning a little piece of asteroid #Ryugu found it's way into my hands!!! We'll be studying its mineralogy & chemistry to learn about the building blocks of the solar system. #SpaceRocks

Love is... Heart-shaped space rocks and cheesy lines. 'Hey babe, I’ve got my iron you!’ 😉 Happy Valentine's Day! #SikhoteAlin #spacerock #meteorite #ValentinesDay

A few of my meteorites had their first outing in over 2 years! For East Lincolnshire Astronomy Club. A great turn-out, too! But then, I did advertise I’d have my rocks out… @eastlincsastro #meteorites #clubnight #astronomy #spacerocks #winchcombe

Last nights 18:45 #fireball seen over #Scotland & #England was a #meteoroid from the outer main #asteroid belt. It was unusual as its orbit took it in past #Mercury which explains why it came in so fast, 31.7 km/s! Sadly no #meteorites survived, it burnt up 38km up 😢

Finally, I’m a Winchcombe meteorite parent! The fireball that fell from the sky and landed in Gloucestershire on 28th February, 2021. This rare Carbonaceous Chondrite is the first recovered UK fall in 30 years! 🖤 ☄️ 🪨 #Winchcombe #meteorite #spacerock @msgmeteorites

It's #ThrowbackThursday, and we're revisiting one of our biggest #news stories of 2021: the sighting, retrieval & study of the #Winchcombe #meteorite! This fireball fell to Earth in Feb and was (amazingly 🤯) recovered for study. Read on: ow.ly/OAtg50He5lS @FireballsUK

I’m replacing a few I.D. cards in the rock cabinet because they’ve definitely seen better days. I’m also spending my evening with 2 of my favourite guys - @geoffnotkin and @MeteoriteSteve ☄️ #meteorites #spacerocks @MeteoriteMen

I need to fit these happy little space rocks into that glass cabinet. The one filled with rocks who are unwilling to share their space! Mentally re-arranging 🤔 Until then, I’m afraid you’re sitting on the floor. #meteorites #spacerocks

Not that I ever need an excuse to get my rocks out, but this beautiful book finally arrived today! 😍 Also, two excited Campo del Cielo meteorites saw a photo opportunity. They insisted! ‘Meteorite: The Stones from Outer Space That Made Our World’ - @TimCosmos ☄️

Last night I stood in a field glaring at a comet, scared to death by a shrieking pheasant behind me! Today I edited a few photos without my glasses on. Plus, I'm a total amateur. But, I'm really pleased with my photos, all things considered! #cometNEOWISE #nightsky #Yorkshire

I managed to catch a glimpse of Comet Neowise briefly tonight through binoculars, but then the clouds quickly ruined my view. So, I figured I'd take the moon home with me instead, since I was out and about...

Here's approximately 1000 #Antarctic #micrometeorites neatly arranged on a glass slide. All between 200-400μm - or less than half a millimetre in size. They exist as #dust in #space and originate from #asteroids and #comets. @NHM_London #Museumathome

Hypervelocity #impacts are an important #geological process. They played a role in the #alteration of #chondrites and in their delivery to #Earth. We study #shock #deformation in both #meteorites and #micrometeorites. @NHM_London onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
