I just spent a full weekend upgrading Vite, removing one and adding three bizarre duct-tape workarounds to get it to build again. No, C/C++ is definitely not as bad and actually @mesonbuild is a very pleasant build system.

Conversion of QEMU to @mesonbuild is over! The configure script is back to the size it had in Sep 2009, covering tasks beyond Meson's scope: Python venv setup, container-based cross compilation of tests and firmware, etc. Meson saved >4000 lines of code… and lots of headaches!

It's also just that everyone who figures this out can't do anything but throw their hands up in the air and move on because almost no one has the right contacts at Microsoft to complain about it. We (@mesonbuild and @gstreamer) have been plagued by MsMpEng.exe for years.
