Replying to @Simon_Ingari
Gen Z did not fail the interview.
They interviewed the company back 😂
• Late interview = red flag 🚩
• No salary range = mystery box 🎁
• Don’t apply for money = unpaid internship vibes 🤡
Old rule: Be grateful for the chair.
New rule: Respect goes both ways.
Gen Z isn’t rude.
They’re just done cosplaying patience 😌

I don't post much here (almost ready to migrate elsewhere!), but I'm thrilled to share that my latest article — my first single-authored! — has been published in @QHCjournal ! This volume also features work by @SusanaValdez whose research I admire! tidsskrift.dk/qhc/article/vi…
The kind of LinkedIn posts I hate are now everywhere 😩😩
This week is Crohn's & Colitis Awareness Week. Bowel diseases often come with stigma, but they shouldn’t remain unspoken. Talk to a doctor, just like you would for a headache. Here's a meme to catch your attention and an informative link🙂 crohnscolitisfoundation.org/…
One thing I struggle with in academia is how slow things can be. Great ideas, collaborations, papers, but all these often come to life when they're no longer relevant (if at all). How do you deal with this and any tips to speed things up? #AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter
Getting a bit tired of the discussions around career breaks and how they 'look bad.' Burnout looks bad. Being forced to choose between work and caring for family looks bad. Chronic illness looks bad. Jobs shouldn’t be gatekept for people who’ve never had to take a break.

Everyone talks about the student not being good enough but no one about the supervisors massively failing her, deciding AFTER 4 years that her PhD is out of scope. We need senior academics to do better in so many aspects.
‘I paid 100k for a PhD’
Well, you didn’t. You paid 100k to be allowed supervision and research time to produce a work which, all being well, would then be examined for a doctorate.

Hey @AstonUniversity,
Glad you're improving your staff-student ratio. However, I'd appreciate it if you didn't use my face to advertise your new hires since you actively encouraged me/my colleagues to leave or made us redundant. #Translation & #languages at Aston are now closed.

ELAN is an essential tool for multimodal conversation analysis. It's used for close observation and multimodal transcription, among other things. I've made a series of short videos that demonstrate its most useful features.
