A bowl of rice puts more sugar into your blood than most desserts.
Dr. David Unwin breaks down what common starchy foods turn into once theyāre digested:
- 150g white rice ā 10 teaspoons of sugar
- 150g boiled potato ā 9 teaspoons
- 2 thin slices of brown bread ā 6 teaspoons
- 1 banana ā 6 teaspoons
Then he gives the number that puts the rest in context. Your entire bloodstream, all 5 liters of it, holds about 4 grams of glucose. Thatās a single teaspoon.
So one banana delivers six times the glucose your whole bloodstream carries at any moment. In a healthy body, insulin quickly moves the excess into your cells. In an insulin-resistant body, the system gets swamped and blood sugar spikes.
The part worth thinking about is what he says about young people. You can eat this way for years and feel fine, because your pancreas is working overtime to keep up. Feeling fine just means the bill hasnāt come due yet.
Compare that with steak and a big salad, or a three-egg omelette with cheese. Both are nutrient-dense, and both put almost no glucose into your blood.
None of these starchy foods taste sweet, and thatās why the comparison matters.
Starch is made of long chains of glucose, and digestion breaks it down into the same glucose thatās in table sugar. Unwinās teaspoon figures come from each foodās glycaemic load, which measures how much a normal portion actually raises blood glucose. Each teaspoon equals 4g of sugar.

Most people who tell me carnivore didn't work for them learned it from the first wave of meatfluencers, and that first wave couldn't have told you where the fat was on a cow.
They were busy with the organs. Nose to tail or you weren't serious. Raw liver eaten to camera like a dare. Heart, kidney, spleen, a bull's testicle for the thumbnail. And at the end of every sermon, the freeze-dried organ capsules, discount code in the description. Strange how the gospel always finished at a checkout.
Fat got a line, if it got anything.
That's the diet upside down. Take away the carbohydrate and fat is the fuel, the only fuel left. Protein builds you; it was never meant to run you. The trappers of the north had a name for living on lean meat alone: rabbit starvation. Pounds of it a day, and they wasted away with full stomachs.
So the beginners did exactly as they were shown. Sirloin with the white trimmed off. Chicken breast. A palmful of capsules and a glass of water.
By week three they were exhausted, blocked up, ravenous and dreaming about toast. Back to the bread they went, telling everyone carnivore had nearly killed them.
They never tried carnivore. They tried lean protein and pills, then blamed the cow.
That's the mess I spend most of my week cleaning up.
- Buy the cut with the most white on it.
- Treat butter as a food, not a garnish.
- Pour the fat from the pan back over the meat.
- Tip what's left in the pan into a mug and drink it.
Nobody in six years has ever quit carnivore because there was too much butter on the plate. They quit because there wasn't enough.

Take away one macronutrient at a time and watch what your body does. Only one of the three turns out to be optional.
Go without protein.
- Your body eats its own muscle for amino acids.
- Then your organs, your heart included.
- Your hair thins and your wounds stay open.
- Your immune system stalls.
- Children swell with fluid. Doctors call it kwashiorkor.
The body breaks down.
Go without fat.
- Your skin turns dry and scaly.
- Vitamins A, D, E and K go unabsorbed.
- Your night vision fades and your bones soften.
- Your blood stops clotting properly.
- Explorers living on lean rabbit sickened within a week.
The body breaks down.
Go without carbohydrate.
- Your liver makes all the glucose you need.
- Insulin falls and your fat stores open up.
- Your brain runs much of its fuel on ketones.
- Your blood sugar stops lurching up and down.
- The hunger that nagged every three hours goes quiet.
The body adapts.
Even the US Institute of Medicine admits it in writing: the lowest carbohydrate intake compatible with life is apparently zero.
The first fortnight feels flat while your body retools from sugar to fat. Push through, and within a few weeks the machinery is built.
Protein and fat, you cannot live without. Carbohydrate, you can, and a great many people live better for it.
Give it three months. Beef, lamb, eggs, butter, cheese. No sugar, no bread, no seed oil.
Then decide whether you ever needed the third one at all.

Four weeks of wall squats reduced systolic blood pressure by nearly 10 points in adults with high blood pressure.
Researchers then compared continuing three sessions weekly with reducing to two, one, or none for another month. Systolic pressure remained roughly 7 mmHg below starting levels in the once- and twice-weekly groups. Continuing three sessions weekly produced the greatest reduction of about 14 mmHg. In those who stopped completely, blood pressure moved back toward baseline.
This fits with a previous analysis of randomized trials that identified isometric exercise, which involves holding a muscle contraction, as an effective way to lower resting blood pressure.
What interests me is the practical question - how much of an exercise benefit can we preserve when we temporarily have less time? This study suggests that reducing the frequency can retain part of the benefit for up to a month.

A natural soil bacteria combo just COMPLETELY ERADICATED tumors across MULTIPLE human cancer types in 100% of mice.
COLORECTAL CANCER: 100% ELIMINATED
OVARIAN CANCER: 100% ELIMINATED
PANCREATIC CANCER: 100% ELIMINATED
Two IV doses of a highly synergistic bacterial combinationāProteus mirabilis and Rhodopseudomonas palustrisāeliminated every single tumor in the treated mice.
Proteus mirabilis (A-gyo) acts as the primary TUMOR DESTROYER, invading cancer tissue, disrupting tumor blood vessels, and triggering massive cancer-cell death.
Rhodopseudomonas palustris (UN-gyo) suppresses A-gyoās potentially harmful biological activity while promoting its transformation into tumor-penetrating forms.
Together, they achieved COMPLETE tumor regression with NO observable systemic toxicity at the tested therapeutic dose.
Further research is urgently needed as cancer rates continue to climb.

The year is 1873. Your wife tires easily and reads too much. The doctor prescribes the rest cure: six weeks flat in bed, no books, no visitors, fed on milk, forbidden to sit up without his permission. The man who devised it is the most famous nerve specialist in America, and the women come out of it quieter, which is taken as the cure.
The year is 1915. The hospital has a new way of delivering your child. Morphine, then scopolamine, and the mother wakes two days later with a baby she cannot remember having. They call it twilight sleep. The women are strapped into padded cots so they do not hurt themselves while they scream, and the straps are the modern part. The babies arrive blue and slow to breathe.
The year is 1945. The truck comes down your street fogging DDT, and the children run behind it in the white cloud because the man on the back says it is harmless. At the beach it is sprayed over the bathers on their towels. It goes on the cattle, over the barn, and across the kitchen table.
The year is 1948. Your son has trouble with his ears. The doctor slides a rod tipped with radium up each nostril and holds it there for the best part of ten minutes, and you bring him back three more times. Hundreds of thousands of American children get the same treatment. The cancers arrive in their fifties.
The year is 1962. The health visitor tells you breastfeeding is old-fashioned and the formula is scientific. By 1972 fewer than one American baby in four is breastfed at all. The formula is skimmed milk and sugar, with the milk fat taken out and vegetable oil put in.
The year is 1971. The family planning clinic fits a small plastic crab called the Dalkon Shield. Its tail is a bundle of fibres that wicks bacteria up into the womb. 2.8 million are fitted in America before it is withdrawn, and the company goes bankrupt under the claims. It had been sold as safe and superior.
The year is 1983. The doctor says your arteries are the butter's fault. The dripping tin goes in the bin, the yolks go to the dog, the margarine goes in the fridge, and you have the heart attack anyway, on skimmed milk, having done everything right.
The year is 2001. Your 15-year-old is low, and the doctor prescribes Paxil, because the trial in the journal says it is effective and well tolerated in adolescents. The raw data, reanalysed 14 years later, shows more suicidal thinking on the drug than on the sugar pill. The company pays $3 billion to settle. Nobody rings the house.
The year is 2009. The government has spent around £500 million stockpiling Tamiflu for the pandemic, on the strength of the manufacturer's trials. When the trials are finally prised loose five years later, the drug shortens flu by about half a day and nothing shows it keeps anyone out of hospital. The stockpile goes out of date in a warehouse.
The year is 2026. The doctor has ten minutes and a screen. The number is high, so the tablet is for life. The weight is high, so the injection is for life. The meat is bad for the planet and the oil is good for the heart, and the person in the chair is as certain as everyone who ever sat in it.
Every one of those was settled, by a committee, in a journal, with a doubter somewhere being laughed at. The rest cure, the straps, the fog, the rod, the formula, the crab, the margarine, the trial, the stockpile. All of it certain, all of it printed, all of it done to somebody who had asked for help.
You were never the one who was wrong. You were the one it was done to, and the only person in the story who did as they were told every single time.
The apology comes a generation late, in a footnote, addressed to nobody.
The next one is being drafted now.

A Melton Mowbray pork pie is pork, wrapped in pork fat, sealed with pork jelly. It was built to survive a day in the coat pocket of a man on a galloping horse.
The pastry is like no other. You boil water with a block of lard until it melts, pour it hot into the flour, and work it while it is still warm. The result can be raised by hand into a tall case that will stand up on its own. It bakes as hard as a tin.
The filling is fresh pork, chopped with a knife, with nothing added but salt and pepper. It cooks grey, the colour of a roast, and a real one is never pink.
Then comes the clever part. As the meat cooks it shrinks away from the crust and leaves a gap. So when the pie comes out of the oven, hot stock made from boiled trotters is poured in through a hole in the lid. It sets into a jelly that fills every space and shuts out the air. That is what makes the pie keep.
It was the food of the hunting field. The grooms and riders of Leicestershire needed something that would not fall apart at a fence, and from the 1830s Melton was sending them to London by stagecoach.
And the pork was there for a reason. The same countryside makes Stilton. Cheesemaking leaves gallons of whey, and whey fattens pigs. The cheese fed the pig, and the pig became the pie.
The recipe has been protected by law since 2009.
Every part of it breaks a modern rule. It is also a complete meal you can eat with one hand, that needs no fridge and no packaging, and they solved it 200 years ago with a pig.

A farmer dies in April 2026.
His son inherits the farm. The farm has been in the family since 1847.
The farm consists of: 300 acres of grazing pasture, a farmhouse built in 1892, a barn, a milking parlour, two tractors of varying ages, a Land Rover that runs about 70% of the time, and a herd of 180 Hereford-cross cattle.
On paper, the farm is worth approximately £3.2 million. This is because land near him has been bought recently by a London hedge fund looking for carbon credits, which has dragged the comparable value of every field within forty miles upward to a number nobody local can justify.
In cash, the farm produces a profit of about £28,000 a year in a good year. In a bad year it loses money. The son also works as a fencing contractor three days a week to keep the operation viable.
The inheritance tax bill on a £3.2 million estate, even at the reduced 20% rate, comes to approximately £140,000 after the increased threshold is applied. The son does not have £140,000. The son has never had £140,000. The son has £4,200 in his current account and an overdraft.
The son sells 60 acres to a developer to pay the tax. The developer puts solar panels on the 60 acres. The remaining herd cannot be sustained on the reduced land. The herd is sold. The barn becomes a holiday let.
A different family eats Brazilian beef this Christmas without knowing why the price went up.
The Treasury collects £140,000.
The land never produces British food again.

Lula vs. Bolsonaro: I was held in solitary confinement for 1,901 days for revealing the truth about the U.S. government's killings and espionage, including against Brazil and its industries. Out of power, Lula fought for my freedom. In power, Lula discussed my persecution with Pope Francis, who decided to meet with my family and offer help. After my release, Lula and I met in Rome to mourn the Holy Father's passing. Lula was kind to my children and asked for nothing in return. In contrast, Jair and FlƔvio Bolsonaro did nothing and said nothing. Yet without the ability to say no to Washington and Tel Aviv, there can be no domestic policy, only foreign instructions. Those orders are always the same: "Expand our theft of resources and wages, and keep your mouths shut about us murdering children." Sellouts will surrender everything in exchange for a cut, even their own tongues.

The devil is not afraid of our minds or our knowledge; he has more of them. He is not even afraid of our virtues, for he has more of them as well. He only lacks one virtue, and its absence kills him while saving us. What is this virtue?
Once, having achieved something, I proudly went to my spiritual elder.
Seeing me, he immediately realized that I had slipped. Before I could say a word, he said:
'Why are we so proud, son? What are we proud of? That we fast and eat little? The devil fasts more than us,he never eats. That we don't sleep at night or that we don't sleep enough? The devil is more awake than us, he never sleeps. What do we abstain from? What do we preserve our virginity for? The devil is more virginal than us: even if he wanted to commit adultery, he wouldn't be able to, as he doesn't have a body.'
I could not believe my ears. No matter what virtues we possess, the devil also possesses them. No matter what virtues we acquire, we will never match the virtues the devil had when he was an archangel, and yet, he lost all of them.
Why? Because he lacked one virtue. We must strive to acquire this virtue in order to be saved. The devil overpowers us not only with sins; he overpowers us with virtues even more than with sins. We can see sins and avoid them, but we actively fight to acquire virtues.
As one saint said: 'Want to fast? The devil helps you. Want to give alms? The devil helps you. Want to build temples? The devil helps you. Why? Because he knows that if we achieve all this, we may become proud and destroy everything.'
We must possess the virtue that he does not have: to be humble!"

My most controversial nutritional opinions, in no particular order, so the replies can pick a fight efficiently.
- Chicken tastes of nothing because it is nothing.
- Salt is a farming invention and I haven't added it in years.
- You do not need to eat liver. The animal was using it as a filter.
- Vegetables are very healthy, once a cow has eaten them.
- Fruit is bait with a stone in it.
- Fibre is a word for the part you cannot digest, sold as the point.
- Seed oils caused the diabetes. Sugar just turned up to help.
- Carbs are not poison. They are a hobby.
- Grass-fed is a label for the default. Every British cow is standing on the label.
- 30% fat mince was the normal mince. The lean stuff is the deviation.
- Butter lives on the counter. The fridge is for people who ration it.
- Raw milk is the only food on earth designed to be food.
- Olive oil is a seasoning the Mediterranean cooked in lard beside.
- Mutton beats lamb. The lamb was two years short of flavour.
- A bacon cheeseburger without the bun is as healthy as it gets.
- Sunburn is a seed oil problem wearing a sun costume.
- The only animal we cannot do without is the one that eats grass.
Every one of those is checkable, which is the part the replies find hardest.

Letās be clear:
If Iām not going to sleep with you, I donāt need to know anything about your sexuality.
And childrenāwho are not going to sleep with anyoneācertainly donāt.
Your sexuality is not sacred. Itās not a personality, itās not a protected class of performance art, and itās not the center of anyoneās moral universe but your own. Unless we are in a relationship, I am not obligated to acknowledge, affirm, or be exposed to your private desiresāespecially not in public, and especially not in front of children.
This used to be understood. Now itās called hate.
No, We Donāt Owe You an Audience
Sexuality belongs in the private realm. It is intimate by definition. If you feel compelled to wear your kink on your sleeveāor on a float, or in a first-grade classroomāyou are not inviting understanding, you are demanding submission. You are violating othersā right not to participate.
Consent doesnāt vanish because your fetish is āprogressive.ā If anything, the burden is higher.
No one consents to being flashed on the subway. No one consents to a strangerās arousal. No one consents to a stranger telling their child about masturbation, kink, gender identity, or pornographic categories under the guise of āinclusive sex ed.ā Yet all of this is happening nowāin public parks, in classrooms, in televised programming.
It is not tolerance. It is invasion.
Children Are Not Here to Validate You
Children are not queer. Children are not sexual. Children do not need to āsee themselves representedā in a spectrum of adult desire. This ideaāthat identity is only valid if sexualized and mirroredāis narcissism, not pedagogy.
There is no legitimate reason to initiate a child into the language of sexual preference, gender identity, or alternative lifestyles. The only people who benefit from that dynamic are those looking to normalize boundary violations.
Let me state it plainly:
Children who are not going to have sex do not need to be exposed to sexuality.
Period.
Any adult who insists otherwise is not confused. They are grooming.
Public Fetishism Is Not Liberation
There is a vast difference between being gay and demanding the right to simulate sex acts in front of children. Between being transgender and insisting on teaching kindergartners about breast removal. Between being proud of who you are and insisting the whole world observe your kink play in the street.
This is not diversity. This is decay.
Men in dog masks being walked on leashes by their lovers are not braveāthey are forcing strangers into their psychodrama. This is exhibitionism, and when children are present, it becomes criminal exhibitionism.
We used to know this. Peeping, flashing, voyeurismāthese were considered red flags. Dangerous behaviors. Early signs of escalation. Now theyāre filmed, hashtagged, and funded by public grants.
Stop Calling It LoveāItās Entitlement
This is not about who you love. Itās about how you demand to be seen. If you need the entire public to witness, applaud, and adapt to your sexuality, youāre not a pioneerāyouāre an emotional colonizer.
Love does not demand a captive audience. It does not parade past toddlers. It does not demand that schools teach four-year-olds about āpreferred pronouns.ā Love protects children. Love guards modesty. Love waits.
And if you canāt waitāif you need to be seen, affirmed, and obeyedāyouāre not talking about love. Youāre talking about power.
Consent Applies to Culture, Too
We teach children that consent is sacredāso why are we failing to apply that lesson to public life?
No child consents to drag queen story hour.
No parent consents to leather harnesses on city floats.
No woman consents to being exposed to male sexuality in the ladiesā room, or in the school library, or anywhere she cannot opt out.
Consent is not just for sex. Itās for everything.
Attention. Language. Presence. Ideology. Imagery.
And we are done pretending we donāt notice when itās violated.
The boundary is back.
And we are drawing it in bold.

In October 2019 a minister in Goa stood up and told a public meeting that seventy-six stray cattle from Calangute and Candolim had stopped being vegetarian.
They had been living on the beach strip where the restaurants dump their scraps. Chicken bones, fried fish, leftover meat. Once the animals were rounded up and taken to a gaushala they refused grass, gram, and the special feed the shelter offered.
The minister said their systems had become ālike that of humans.ā Veterinary specialists were called in to medicate them back to pure vegetarian status in four or five days. Bones were later found in some of the stomachs.
The reaction outside Goa was the one you would expect. The animal that is supposed to be sacred, that is supposed to smell meat and walk away, had developed a taste for it. The idea that a cow could prefer restaurant scraps to grass was treated as an offence against nature.
It was not. Ruminants are not ideological. They are opportunistic. When the grass is scarce and the garbage is rich in protein and fat, they eat what is there.
The same stomach that ferments cellulose will also take meat by-products if they are mixed into the leftovers. Cattle have been fed fish meal for centuries. The rumen does not hold a purity test.
The cows in Calangute did what any hungry animal does when the menu changes. They adapted. The people who were most offended were the ones who had already decided, on religious grounds, that the animal was forbidden to do so. The biology never signed the agreement.
A cow does not become less of a cow because it ate the chicken the tourists left behind. It remains a converter of whatever is available into meat and milk. In that moment on the Goa coast the converter simply noticed that the scraps were better than the grass.

China emits as much CO2 in 16 days as Canada emits in an entire year. Australia's annual total takes China just 12 days to emit, while Britain's takes barely 9 days.
Combined, Canada, Australia and the UK emit about 1.23 billion tonnes a year. China emits that much in roughly 37 days.
So, even if all three countries eliminated every tonne of fossil CO2, closing every factory, power station and banning every gas vehicle, China would replace the entire annual reduction in little more than five weeks.
Yet, Western governments are deliberately making energy scarcer and more expensive, by dismantling dependable sources, restricting oil and gas exploration and loading industry with carbon taxes and net zero mandates.
Steel, chemicals, fertilizers, refining and manufacturing are driven overseas, often to countries burning more coal. So the emissions do not disappear. Only the jobs, tax revenues and energy security do.
The West impoverishes itself. China profits.

A Nobel Prize-winning chemist fed cows no protein at all for years, and they gave milk, and the milk was full of protein.
Artturi Virtanen won his Nobel for chemistry in 1945.
In the 1960s he took dairy cows off every protein in their diet and fed them urea and ammonium salts, which are nitrogen and nothing else, with cellulose and starch for energy.
The cows made milk. Full milk, with every essential amino acid in it, for years, through several lactations.
The microbes in the rumen took the nitrogen and built the protein from scratch, and the cow digested the microbes.
They built every B vitamin as well, including B12, which no plant and no animal can make and which comes, in the end, from a microbe or nowhere.
A cow is the only farm animal that manufactures protein. A pig and a chicken can only move protein from one place to another, and the place is usually a soy field.
Feed a pig a kilo of soy protein and you get less than a kilo of pork. Feed a cow grass with no protein worth the name and you get a kilo of beef and milk anyway.
Grazing cattle produce more protein a human can eat than they consume.
A cow is a protein factory with a grass intake and a chemist-proof design, and she can run it on nitrogen and sunlight.
Every plant-based plan to replace her begins with growing the protein first.

Steve Irwin was one of the most passionate animal lovers on the planet. He also wasnāt a vegetarian, and he had a clear reason why.
In a 2001 interview with Scientific American he explained that he went through a phase where he seriously considered going vegetarian. He researched it hard. His conclusion was the opposite of what most people assume.
He used a simple land-use example: one cow could keep him fed for roughly a month. That same piece of land could still have trees, grass, kangaroos, wallabies, goannas, birds, and the rest of the Australian wildlife living in and around it. The cow and the wild animals could coexist.
A plant-only diet for the same period, he argued, required clearing more land just for crops. Once you level that ground for rice or whatever else, almost nothing else can live there except a few pest insects. Habitat gone. Wildlife gone.
He wasnāt anti-meat. He was anti-destroying habitat. And he drew a hard line on which animals should be eaten. He hated the idea of farming or eating Australiaās icons ā kangaroos, emus, crocodiles. Those animals were part of the countryās identity and tourism. He wanted people eating the livestock that already occupied grazing land (beef, lamb, etc.), not turning the bush into more monoculture or harvesting the wildlife itself.
On the day he died he had a classic Aussie breakfast: bacon and eggs. He lived a high-output outdoor life and fueled it with real food, not ideology.
Irwinās position was straightforward: protect the wild animals, keep the land working, and donāt pretend that clearing more ground for plants is automatically better for nature. A lot of modern āeat less meat for the environmentā arguments still havenāt grappled with the trade-off he laid out more than 20 years ago.
