Delighted to attend a presentation in @mercyprimaryschool on the Crumlin Rd this morning with chair of health committee Liz Kimmins MLA and Gerry Kelly MLA where the principal Elaine spoke about the positive impact of having a Cubbie installed. Elaine and the school are responding to the needs of their pupils with a neuro divergence diagnosis or symptoms. The impact and outcomes are phenomenal. A number of pupils spoke eloquently about their use of the Cubbie, how it reduces their anxiety, enables them to fully participate in school life and parents talked about the extended benefits to family life overall. Such facilities should be available in all our schools, mental health treatment facilities for young people and community facilities such as libraries.

It's hugely unfair that non-teaching staff are not in pay negotiations, for e.g. SEN workers. These members of staff are crucial to the provision of education, their wages are already unacceptably low and they continue to suffer from high inflation.
