At the library today, I witnessed a librarian patiently, attentively find books for half a dozen patrons in a row. What beautiful, vital, and too often unsung work.
The world needs as many librarians as it can get—in our communities, in our schools, and in the lives of our kids.
Congratulations @LansfordsLines Wonderful your district recognizes you as an educator! Sadly mine does not @TulsaSchools We’re told librarians have their own state award & not allowed to be ToY at our schools. But you guys rock in Norman! Go all the way & make @OKSchoolLib proud! xitter.cf/oksllife/status/101741…

Liviu Librescu survived the Holocaust as a young boy.
Decades later, he lost his life to senseless gun violence as a professor at Virginia Tech.
Sen. Tim Kaine is telling his story through tears because it must be told.

I can assure you that we are in it for the long haul and our administration AND community supports us. #oklaed xitter.cf/robynrfletcher/status/… – at Norman, OK
I saw a woman holding a sign yesterday as we walked to the capitol, and its words have clung to me today. I wish I had taken a pic, but it said (paraphrasing) "My public school teachers brought me from free lunch to Harvard Law graduate." #OklahomaTeacherWalkout

Wouldn't it be cool if we had a governor that took a leadership role in solving the State's problems, instead of just creating them?! @GovMaryFallin
I agree! I miss students coming to the library! @GWCarverMSTulsa I’ve been advocating at the Capitol or here on corners in Tulsa every day... AND still going to my 2nd job in the evenings. #EnoughIsEnough #OKwalk4kids xitter.cf/mrskmedina2015/status/…

According to the latest @NEWS9 poll, 83% of Oklahomans (almost 50K votes) support the #oklaedteacherwalkout STILL. #okleg, those aren’t teachers voting in the poll but people that voted you into office and they’ll be voting again come November. #oklaed

Dear OK Legislature, Today, the House adjourned after only 45 minutes and refused to hear any education funding bills. How can you turn your backs on the people of Oklahoma? How can you ignore our pleas for a better future? We deserve better. #oklaedwalkout #OKleg

In the richest country in the history of the world, our teachers should be the best-paid in the developed world, not among the worst-paid. The teachers who are protesting now are an inspiration to all of us. xitter.cf/CBSThisMorning/status/…

So, it’s the 50th Anniversary of MLK’s death, Maya Angelou’s 90th birthday, and...NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARIAN DAY!!! #NationalSchoolLibrarianDay All you awesome librarians, let’s incorporate these other moments into our conversations today. It’s important.

On School Librarian Day a pat on the back is nice, but it isn’t what we need. Put certified school librarians in every library. Give us enough $ to buy the books Ss want to read, give us the time & resources to build instructional partnerships. That’s how #librariestransform – at North Tonawanda, NY
Day 3 & still staying STRONG! 71st & Memorial-honk when you see us to show your love & support! Special thanks to @GWCarverMSTulsa Sykes-donuts & coffee we’re the perfect treat! @oklaed #CarverStrong #OKWalk4Kids #OklahomaTeachersWalkout #EnoughIsEnough #studentsdeservebetter
