The judgment that wives must return dowry when the marriage breaks up is juridically ridiculous. Because if you flip the coin it simply and logically means that the man should also restore the woman's virginity, physic, as a counterpoint. In marriage, human life, biological realities, youth, emotional labor, and reproductive contributions are intrinsically non-restitutable. ​Treating the dissolution of a marriage as an invoice adjustment ignores the nature of human dignity. If a legal system acknowledges that human life and autonomy cannot be restored, it cannot logically or equitably demand the refund of tokens tied to that very union.
