Imagine discovering a tiny library hidden inside a woodland cabin on Scotland’s Isle of Skye. 🌲📖
Far from busy streets and crowded bookshops, the idea of a hidden reading spot like this feels like something straight out of a fantasy novel. But what makes a place like this so fascinating, and why do secret libraries capture our imagination? 👇
A Tuesday shelfie. Hundreds of years of paranormal research and investigation rest on this shelf. There is so much that is baffling, puzzling and mysterious in these books. The Victorians took a deep dive into the mysteries of life and death. It was perhaps the only time that the then current international scientific world earnestly collaborated and investigated the paranormal or the otherworldly. This attempt was much bigger than 20th century UFO and paranormal research would be. Then, one experiment killed it all. We may not be nearer to the answers we seek, but it is not because they didn't try.

The village of Kalachi, Kazakhstan, is a small town of 600 inhabitants, where residents, including children and the elderly, often fall asleep, only to wake up days later feeling as if they've never rested.
These episodes have been happening for a couple of years now, everywhere and without warning, so much so that there isn't a single resident who doesn't have a relative or friend who hasn't experienced them .
And no one can explain why, not even doctors, despite having performed all sorts of tests. Many have begun to view the abandoned former Soviet mine nearby with suspicion.
In April 2013, the first wave of cases of the mysterious "sleeping epidemic," as it's known locally, was recorded. Since then, the syndrome has struck one in ten residents, often more than once, sometimes with slumbers lasting a whole week. On one occasion, it affected more than 60 people at once.

NEW materials found in the ever elusive search for materials pertaining this 1985 Costa Rica Conference. It has become a sort of white whale for UFO and paranormal researchers, since no audio/video has been discovered- and very little photographs have surfaced.
It’s important because the lineup of speakers here was quite legendary and included Andrija Puharich, Jacques Vallee, John Keel, John Lilly, Salvador Freixedo, and more.
I’ve got my hands on a flier for the conference and a photo which I’ve never seen before. Also an add that was run to promote the conference which translates to:
“Eminent scientists, one of whom was an adviser to NASA; another holds 56 patents.
Researchers who have traveled the entire world in search of the mysterious.
Recipients of scientific and literary awards, as well as various honors recognizing their achievements.
Distinguished linguists and polyglots.
Editors and contributors to magazines, encyclopedias, newspapers, and other publications.
Researchers who have obtained official government and CIA documents concerning UFOs.
The researcher most closely associated with Uri Geller.
One of the leading figures in Erich von Däniken’s group.
The inspiration and real-life model for the film Altered States.
A revolutionary researcher of religious phenomena.
The foremost specialist on the Bermuda Triangle.
A researcher who has investigated his own UFO encounter.
The discoverer of the Ica Stones in Peru.
One of his country’s leading neurophysiologists.

Jacques Vallée discussing UFO waves and flaps.
Here’s a question worth asking: Are UFO flaps genuinely periods of increased activity, or are we simply getting better at noticing what’s always been there?

I've seen a LOT of confusion over this and people saying "wasn't this known?" so to clear it up:

From my archive: a now very rare complete set of 'Telonic Research Bulletin', published by early enigmatic ufo contactee and Adamski associate George Hunt Williamson’s Telonic Research Center, based in Prescott, Arizona.
He founded this ufo outfit in 1954. Some (Barkun) say he left it in 1955. These issues from 1955 to 1956 feature many articles by him. Bonus content: photos of a five sided ufo.
The bulletins contain articles about ufo sightings, theories about extraterrestrial civilizations, photographs of alleged flying saucers (like this one), and early ufo conspiracy theories.
A nook of my library. Top shelves are the 19th century ‘Journals’ and ‘Proceedings’ of the Society of Psychical Research. Lower shelf to the right the 19th century German paranormal and spiritist magazine ‘Sphinx’. Next to it Dutch spiritist magazine ‘Op de Grenzen van Twee Werelden’ (On the Borders of Two Worlds), that started in 1877 and went on to 1905. All in all hundreds of years of paranormal research, investigations and discourse. We may not be nearer to the answers, but it isn’t because of lack of trying.
