Fake Ballots Could Be Accepted Under Section 63(2) Of Electoral Act — Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki Raises Concerns Over Credibility Of 2027 Elections, Seeks INEC Chairman’s Briefing
Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, a lawmaker representing Sokoto State, has raised concerns over Section 63(2) of the Electoral Act, warning that it could undermine the credibility of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives, Dasuki argued that the provision allows presiding officers to accept ballot papers without INEC’s official marks or security features, raising concerns about fake ballots being counted.
“Section 63 subsection 2, Mr. Speaker, gave a polling unit officer or presiding officer the opportunity to accept any paper that is not having the marks or any security feature of INEC,” he said.
Comparing the situation to counterfeit currency, he added: “It’s just like you saying go to the bank, collect money — if you Have fake money inside the bank, for as long as it’s in the bundle, that means it’s accepted.”
Dasuki said he and the House Whip had submitted a bill to address the issue. He also called for the INEC chairman to brief lawmakers on the commission’s preparedness for the 2027 elections.
“We don’t want to wait till on the eve of election before we know what INEC is going to do, and we are the only ones empowered in the constitution to ask INEC how ready they are,” he stated.
He also expressed concern over security challenges and INEC’s funding, urging the House to debate the bill and motion before the elections.
Responding, the Speaker promised to review the matter and try to accommodate the motion within the week.
“I have heard what you have said, I will look at your issue, and we will try as much as possible within the week to accommodate the motion that you already brought before the parliament in July,” the Speaker said.

The greatest danger isn't always the enemy standing in front of you. Sometimes it's the one who created the conflict and stands quietly watching you destroy each other.
Before you turn against your neighbor because of their political beliefs, ask yourself who benefits from keeping Americans divided. While we fight each other over Republican and Democrat, we may be overlooking those who profit from the conflict. I want to draw the attention of the leadership of the NDC, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Obidients, kwankwasiyas, and the OK movement to a very disturbing fact that Kwara state is fast sleeping off your hands because there is no presence or structure to guarantee votes, or victory for Peter Obi in that state.
From my findings, Almost the entire NDC candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and the State house of assembly emerge through place holder arrangement in Kwara state.
It is always a political tradition for opposition parties in kwara state to secretly collapse their structure for the APC at the state level in return for money or favours when it’s just few days to election. This has happened continuously in all electoral cycle since APC took control of that state.
In 2023, the Labour Party leadership in Kwara state, did the same, and betrayed Peter obi in the process.
Obi got 31,166 votes in Kwara state, despite his popularity, and the political awareness of his candidacy in the state. There was more to it, than the ordinary eyes could see.
The huge chunk of his votes came from ilorin West, and ilorin south. Mostly from right thinking aggrieved youths, and none indigenes who refused to partake in the labour Party arrangement in the state. It might interest you to know that Labour party leadership and polling unit agents were working side by side in 2023 against Peter Obi.
Places he won, results were re-written, and figures changed in favour of the APC without any protest or opposition from labour party polling unit agents, or the party’s leadership.
In some areas, the Labour Party don't have polling unit agents in Kwara state on election day in 2023.
As of today, There is secret pressure being mounted by the APC in Kwara state on the governorship candidate of the NDC in the state, Professor Mumuni Olayinka Ajia to collapse his structure and that of the NDC to support APC in the upcoming election.
I call on the NDC governorship candidate in Kwara state and the leadership of the party in the state to publicly assure Nigerians, the NDC, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Obidients, kwankwasiyas, and the OK movement, that no matter the amount of pressure from the APC, they will not betray. That they will not toe the line of other parties in the state.
Because from what i am seeing, Professor is not showing any sign of someone that is contesting election to win. Same applies to their Senatorial candidates, House of Representatives candidates, state house of Assembly candidates. There is little or no spark in the state about Peter Obi or the NDC.
Alot needs to be done, and urgently done if Obi or the NDC really want votes in Kwara state.
However i met some individuals who are Peter Obi's diehard supporters in Kwara state who are doing everything possible to ensure that those ugly events of selling out experienced in 2023 do not repeat itself again in this upcoming 2027 elections.
NDC and Peter Obi must immediately look into Kwara state structure.
They need to immediately build a formidable structure in that state, get assurance and reassurance from candidates and party leaders in the state, and also monitor closely the activities of the party in the state.
