There is still colour to enjoy. The white flowers of the blousy southern catalpa host a purple and gold corolla to attract pollinators; the tea of heaven hydrangea is a vibrant blue. Both will be around for a while yet. Not so the poppy, whose last leaves appear about to fall...

Meanwhile, after the rain some fungi are having a field day. This phenomenal flourish of mica ink-caps (Coprinellus micaceus) is enjoying the base of the dead 'Y' tree opposite the café. And back to poppies. Will Domino's be offering opium pizzas on its menu soon..? 🤔
