🚨New: Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s hand-picked parole board released eight out of ten felons during Thursday’s parole meeting.
These are people who were convicted of murder, rape, robbery and child abuse. Many of them had decades left on their life sentences.
WJLA analyzed all of Spanberger’s parole board’s decisions since their first meeting. I found that out of the 205 discretionary and geriatric parole cases the board considered, Spanberger’s board granted 48 felons parole. That’s almost ONE in FOUR felons who requested early release being granted parole.
It's a significant jump compared to former Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s parole board.

The man charged, DeMarcus Johnson-Wright, is Black and allegedly had a long violent record and several open felony warrants out of Tennessee, yet he was walking free.

A man already wanted on multiple violent felonies was out on the street, and now a mother and her baby are gone.
Her name was April Barlow Celio, he was 41 years old.
She was a wife to her husband Antonio and a mom to three kids.
On September 23rd, Pineville police were called to her home on George Martin Drive.
April was de*d. The coroner ruled it a homicide.
The next day, investigators learned she had been PREGNANT.
The State Medical Examiner found NO baby in her womb.
While processing the scene, investigators recovered what they believe are DETAL REMAINS.
Authorities still haven't said how April or her baby d*ed.
They identified one suspect, his name is DeMarcus Kenneth Johnson-Wright, he's 41.
This was not some first-time offender.
According to police, when they identified him he ALREADY had an extensive violent criminal history.
And SEVERAL outstanding violent felony warrants out of Tennessee.
Violent felonies. PLURAL.
Yet he was free.
Now three children are growing up without their mom.
Say her name. April Barlow Celio.

Over 75 senior retired 🇺🇸U.S. generals, admirals, and military lawyers have signed a new open letter rejecting claims that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
The signatories include those who have commanded U.S. armed forces in combat, applying the laws of armed conflict.
Their conclusion: based on the facts and applicable legal standard, the conduct of Israel’s war against Hamas does not constitute genocide.
As the letter states, “Civilian deaths occurring during combat, however tragic, are insufficient, by themselves, to support a finding of genocidal intent.”
The standards used to judge military conduct matter precisely because war is tragic and imperfect.
“The precedent established today regarding Israel will shape the conditions under which American forces fight tomorrow. Protecting civilians and preserving the ability of our nation to defend itself requires us to defend the truth when the laws of war are being distorted to make false charges of genocide.”
This is not an argument for minimizing the suffering of civilians. It is an argument for applying the law faithfully and maintaining the distinctions that matter: between the tragic consequences of war, violations of the laws of armed conflict, and the specific crime of genocide.
