A former colleague reached out last week about an opening at the company he works for. This role would be his boss. He said “I want you to be my leader.” It was the greatest compliment. Job seeking has its ups and downs, but this was a highlight.

I’m teaching a class to very smart seniors at DePauw next week. Normally, I teach about Emotional Intelligence. But this semester, I have free reign on topic. Any suggestions?
Also, my corporate jargon is growing by the day! Last week, the words of the week were “ostensibly,” “purportedly” and “extensible.”
This week, we are coming in hot already on a Monday with “bifurcate.”

Unequivocally, the best part of this “forced slow down” period is connecting with people from my past. More time means intentionally finding time to re-engage. Secondly, people are just so good. All my job activity has been a result of someone making introductions. I’m lucky.
I say this timidly, but “Your Honor” is just about as good as “The Wire” (which is my all time #1.)
Highly recommend.
Today I texted “cnn” to a friend group chat instead of typing that into a browser. So, I’d say unemployment is going well for me.

I’m sad to report that I was affected by the SF layoffs last week. I wake up each day with the crushing blow that such a massive part of my life and identity is over, but I’m confident bigger things are ahead.
Balance in life is sometimes working and scrolling LinkedIn about all my incredible friends and colleagues and their accomplishments while simultaneously watching Love Island.
(2) it’s clear he was unaware of their canned food drive and now I look like I thought he was a charity case and needed pizza sauce.
Today I had a typical Meggie moment. Plumbing company told me over the phone that if I donated 2 canned goods, they’d take $75 off the bill.
After the plumber installed our new toilet, I said “can I give you two canned goods?” He looked at me, bewildered, and said “no?” (1)
I don’t tweet a lot but this is important. If you’re a Pepsi shop vs Coke, you’re not nearly as good as the other restaurant that serves coke. “May I get a Diet Coke?” - “is Pepsi ok?” No. No it is not. What agreement did you make? Who hurt you? Why do you hate your patrons?
