Every so often I find a product that genuinely amazes me. Like the first time I had the spicy rigatoni at Carbone and finally understood the hype. Last month I had that moment again, except this one saves me around $100K a year. I was about to hire a product manager for roughly that much. Then I realized a tool called @viktor_com was already doing the job. Every morning, before I’m even awake, it: - Filters the news down to what actually matters to me - Reads my emails, calendar, messages, and meeting notes for content ideas hiding in what I’m already doing - Scrapes the web for what’s trending in my space - And runs about a hundred other things in the background Then it hands me a short list of things to write about. My entire morning of work, done in minutes. But content is just where I started.  It’s also the project manager that keeps me and my team on track, pulling together what's due and what's waiting on me. It's the head of ops that connects my calendar with my inbox and my notes, And handle all the repetitive work. I used to lose hours too. The thing about Viktor is that it's not replacing my thinking. All the ideas, all the decisions and judgments are still mine. @viktor_com just gathers the information with the detailed context that no new employee would ever have on day one I recommend everyone who's running a business to try it. Try it below!

I'm excited to announce @meetgranola as a partner of the Outliers Summit (Nov 5-6, NYC). If you haven't used it, @meetgranola is the AI notepad I use for my calls. It takes notes while you talk, so you can stay in the conversation instead of typing. Everyone who gets a ticket to Outliers gets 3 months of Granola free. Granola was quick to say yes. When I asked if we could say we partnered up, they said go for it, and they set up a dedicated 3-month offer just for our ticket holders. If you want to meet the most unreasonably ambitious builders in November, come to the summit. Ticket holders get the Granola code in their perks kit.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We've opened up 50 spots at the Outliers Summit for students for just $19 (discounted from $209) Why? Because some of the people who'd get the most out of this room are the ones least able to afford it. When I was a student, I had no idea there were paths beyond the 9 to 5. Nobody showed me that you could build a company, an audience, or a career on your own terms. I wish a room like this had existed back then. So we're opening the doors. The Outliers Summit is a 2-day summit for the unreasonably ambitious founders, builders, and operators, learning from entrepreneurs like @thesamparr @nateliason & @ankurnagpal Details: – Open to any enrolled undergrad or grad student, any school, anywhere – Apply with your school email – Only 50 tickets at $19 available Applications close October 15. If you're a student, apply. If you know one, tag them below: outlierssummit.com/students

I turn 31 today. Instead of my usual "things I learned" this year, I'm sharing the things I changed my mind about. I believe part of maturing is developing the capacity to change your perspective based on new information. I’ve done that a lot this year, and these are the ideas that stuck with me. 1. You can do anything, but not everything. Focus is a superpower, and one year of obsession can change your life. 2. Giving without expectation gets you walked all over. Give first, but strategically, to people you trust to reciprocate. 3. Overoptimizing is a trap. Taking anything to an extreme costs you more than it gives. 4. Entrepreneurship isn't always the highest form of leverage. You can now get founder-level equity without founder-level risk. 5. Character is a choice, not a requirement. Plenty of dishonest people win, so I've stopped conflating business success with personal success. 6. Spending well matters as much as saving well. Not knowing how to spend can be as costly as not knowing how to save. 7. There's wisdom in biting your tongue. Not everyone wants your feedback or your honest opinion, and learning to keep it to yourself is its own kind of maturity. 8. Not everyone has to like you. When someone doesn't, nothing actually happens, and that realization is freeing. 9. Sometimes the harder path is the least crowded one. The easiest way to beat the competition is to go where there isn't any. 10. You get more than six shots. AI has compressed timeframes so much you can now live multiple lives in the time it used to take to live one. 11. It might look stupid at first. The best ideas look strange at the start, because if they were obvious, someone would already be doing them. 12. And finally, there are only two ways to slow time down: travel and new experiences, and doing hard things. 31 feels good. Thank you for growing alongside me!

ANNOUNCEMENT: @thesamparr, founder of @HamptonFounders, @TheHustle & @myfirstmilpod, is speaking at the Outliers Summit, Nov 5–6. Sam started The Hustle from his kitchen table with $12. He grew it into a media company reaching millions of readers daily, then sold it to @HubSpot in 2021 for a reported $27M. Then he did it again. He founded Hampton, a highly vetted community for founders and CEOs, and built My First Million into one of the most listened-to business podcasts in the world. Sam has spent his entire career on one bet: that the most valuable thing you can build is an audience and a community that trusts you. What does media, distribution, and community-building look like when everyone has the same AI tools? Sam has answers most people don't. Join Sam and speakers like @rrhoover (Product Hunt), @dunn (Pie, Bonobos), @zsims (CodeAcademy), @shl (Gumroad), and more on Nov 5 and 6 in NYC. Apply to attend below 👇

Two weeks ago, we announced the Outliers Summit (Nov 5–6), a two-day gathering for founders, operators, and builders bringing unreasonably ambitious ideas to life. Hosted with my friend @ankurnagpal and @AngelList We underestimated the demand for it. Since launching, we've had HUNDREDS of people apply. - The Former C-suite of a $100B public company now working on something new - The CTO of a mental fitness app with >$600M raised and a multi-billion-dollar valuation - Execs at companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, Stripe, BCG, PwC, and more The applications have been pouring in, far more than we expected, and our team needs more time to review them all properly. So we're making a call: early-bird pricing stays open through September 1. If you apply between now and then, you're locked in at the early-bird rate. After September 1, prices go up 30%. Quick reminder of what you're applying for: two days in NYC (November 5 and 6) with the most unreasonably ambitious builders, founders, and operators I know. One day to build with the AI tools that all the high-level builders are using. Another day for the candid, off-the-record conversations you won't hear on a podcast. Speakers include: - @rrhoover - @shl - @dunn - @nateliason - @zsims - @niks & many more. If you're unreasonably ambitious and want to meet other builders, founders, and CEOs in New York. This is the place to be. Apply to attend below.

If you're a top performer, the hardest decision you have right now is which company to spend your next few years at. Picking the right upstart can be the difference between making $500,000 or $5,000,000 over the next few years. So I went into my network to identify the top early-stage CEOs and companies. These are the companies I'd want to work for if I were a top GTM, operations, or technical leader. And on August 24, we're hosting our next @TheShortlistNYC Founder Showcase, where six CEOs will tell you what they're building and why you should join them.

Meet the founder of @bark!
Next week on August 20, I'm hosting a breakfast + Q&A with my friend @werdelin, who started @barkbox (NYSE: BARK) and invested in many other unicorns like @ro. He's scaled multiple companies to >$100m in revenue and is now building @audos_com to help 100,000 people build a company this year. We have five seats left at our breakfast in Nomad, Manhattan. We’ve had hundreds of incredible founders + operators apply just a week after announcing. The former chief product officer at a $100B public company. Solopreneurs and creators with millions of followers. Ambitious operators at companies like @perplexity_ai @OpenAI & @stripe Our early bird sale ends on August 21. Excited to see you all there!
I'm excited to announce the Outliers Summit. November 5 and 6 in New York City. A two-day gathering for founders, creators, operators, builders, and thinkers bringing unreasonably ambitious ideas to life, hosted with my friend @ankurnagpal and @AngelList. Previously, we called this event the OOO Summit. But this year, we've evolved the brand and doubled the size of the event to reflect what we believe the future will look like. Over the last two years, thousands of ambitious people attended our summit, and we've realized that the people showing up aren't just business owners and operators. They are multi-hyphenates, hybrid creator-entrepreneurs, solo builders, AI-native founders, and even people running companies of one with agents doing the rest. The word to describe this kind of person is Outlier. The type of person who chose to take the unconventional path and pave their own way. You'll be hearing from people like @rrhoover (@ProductHunt, @WeekendFund), @shl (@gumroad), @dunn (@Bonobos, Pie), @nadyaokamoto (Pie, August), @zsims (@Codecademy), @mrsharma and @nateliason. & many more to be announced. This year, the Outliers Summit will be two full days: Day 1 is How Outliers Build. Tactical sessions where you leave having built the thing yourself – an app, an agent, an audience, a brand. Day 2 is How Outliers Think. Off-the-record conversations about the bets that separate outliers from everyone else. Early bird pricing ends August 12th and goes up 30% after that. If you are unreasonably ambitious, we'd love to meet you. Apply here: outlierssummit.com/

Join us!
I host a salon dinner for CMOs and senior marketing leaders every quarter. It's an extremely thoughtfully curated room (3% acceptance rate) where we talk about tactics that work in marketing under Chatham House rules. Past guests include leaders from companies like Anthropic, L'Oréal, Spotify & Bilt. Why am I doing this? I believe that marketing is more important than ever. In a world where products are becoming increasingly commoditized (thanks, AI) and attention can be bought (paid ads), TASTE is the last remaining differentiator. But taste could mean anything ... like your brand's creative, your ad copy, or even the venue you chose to host your event. So I started this dinner club to share what's working and talk about where the puck is heading. Each dinner, I moderate a short discussion in a private dining room at one of New York's most distinctive restaurants. The next one is on August 20 and September 10. We have a few seats open. If you're a CMO or senior marketing leader and want to join, DM me! You'll be in great company, and the food will be spectacular.
