Starlink is available on commercial flights which travel around 800km/h, so I don’t think there is a technical limit to this system.
Starlink connectivity at speeds of up to 160 km/h is being restored. Removing Starshield’s speed limit entirely is now critical for Ukraine’s defense. Thank you, @elonmusk. We hope for your continued support.

European nations will reasonably consider restricting starlink in their markets if it means their country can be turned-off by a hostile state. While starlink is infrastructure, it has a very different set of risks to a motorway.
❗️Last night, the operation of Starlink terminals in Ukraine was restricted. Connectivity began to drop when moving at speeds exceeding 160 km/h. As a result, a number of critical missions were disrupted. SpaceX likely took these measures at the request of the Trump administration. Also last night, when Kyiv was attacked by ballistic missiles, Ukraine did not receive intelligence regarding their launch— a failure that could have led to higher casualties. Ukraine did not attack Russian oil refineries, yet Trump has already begun imposing sanctions on my country. Meanwhile, sanctions against Russia have been eased.

Now that a lot of bots are down, we should test whether all those anti-researcher accounts are still posting. Bot test: mask wearing is an individual choice and long-covid researchers are not spokespeople for people with ME/LC.

Who knows what the cause may be, but I notice that the hellscape “for you” tab is not the usual cesspit of hatred, misinformation and extremism today… Does correlation point to causation?

I really like Kemi Badenoch, but today’s proposal on inheritance tax makes no sense to me. If your principal private residence is completely free of IHT when passed to your children, it creates a huge incentive to maximise the amount of wealth tied up in your home. Why invest in AIM shares, private companies or other productive assets and potentially pay IHT, when you can put the money into a bigger house and pass it on tax-free? Tax policy should encourage investment in productive assets, not create an even bigger incentive to pour wealth into residential property.

Watching a tv show about cruising on @channel5_tv. They have guests retelling their experiences and a narrator sarcastically suggesting they are stupid or incompetent: “should have done more research, shouldn’t you?”. Why do TV some producers behave like this?

It is easy to dismiss local charity actions, but they are so good for communicating the cause: they communicate the reality of ME - that this is a local issue across the UK. Local events achieve much more than the funds raised. Thank you to those who ran this bake sale for ME.
OMG, a friend who works at Sheffield Uni and has a PhD student with ME ran a bake sale yesterday to raise money and awareness - they made £200 but more importantly had conversations with people. So grateful! 🥰

Can someone explain to me how the British Govt’s new policy on Israeli settlements in the West Bank ‘fans antisemitic flames’? Variants of this statement has been made all day, but I don’t understand the reasoning.
Replying to @nicolelampert
He supports and accepts Jewish free areas whilst claiming to be proud of his Jewish heritage. He ignores threats facing other Jews and fans the antisemitic flames with his rhetoric. He believes all he says - unlike Burnham who is doing it for votes. Not sure which is worse.

Opinions like this miss the point. This is a meaningful departure of middle powers from the US policy shadow. It extends the middle powers’ rejection of “comfortable lies” with the US that Mark Carney identified in Davos. This move is far more significant than Eylon realises.
British politicians need to understand something. When they talk of sanctioning Israeli towns and villages to “keep the two-state solution alive,” the response from Israelis is ridicule. Yes, ridicule. October 7 killed the two-state vision. Catch up.

Supporters of Israel and Zionism do themselves no favours with these arguments. It is the settlements and settlors which risk driving antisemitism. The Labour govt is acting for peace here.
Sanctions on Israel will do nothing for a two state solution. All they will do is inflame anti-semitism at home and become a de facto ban on Israeli goods. This will do huge damage to British businesses too. Pure idiotic posturing and dangerous

There is no justification for the illegal settlements in the West Bank and Badenoch’s inability to take a stance against them is unimpressive. The Israeli govt has alienated itself from a previously supportive community and must take serious action to rectify its activity.
Great conversation this evening with UK Opposition Leader @KemiBadenoch and Shadow Foreign Secretary @TomTugendhat. I thanked them for their firm opposition to the hostile Labour Government’s announcement today and its series of anti-Israel policies since taking office. I welcomed their support for the friendship with Israel and their commitment for the future relations between our countries. We know that we have many friends in the UK, but unfortunately we are faced with the ongoing hostility of the current Labour government. I also thanked Kemi for her warm wishes ahead of the Jewish New Year.

I fail to understand how the Labour govt’s policy on settlements threatens British Jews, but the Israeli govt’s policy of illegal settlement building does not? These individuals do themselves no favours by arguing such positions.
NEW: Labour MP Peter Prinsley, vice-chair of Labour Friends of Israel, says Ed Miliband's planned sanctions on West Bank settlements increases the threat posed to Britain's Jewish communities from anti-semitic attacks. He told @BBCr4today: "My fear is that opponents of Israel won’t distinguish between Israeli government policy, Zionistic political philosophy and British Jews. “As far as they’re concerned, the whole thing’s the same. It carries a real risk of increased chances of attacks on the British Jewish community."

If you are a rich person who has spare cash to donate large sums to political causes... you typically don't want to get a British criminal prosecution. I imagine the names which were bleeped by channel4 news are currently sweating profusely.
A dry legal thread on Section 61(1) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, “Offences concerned with evasion of restrictions on donations”, which reads, 61.—(1) A person commits an offence if he— (a) knowingly enters into, or (b) knowingly does any act in furtherance of any arrangement which facilitates or is likely to facilitate, whether by means of any concealment or disguise or otherwise, the making of donations to a registered party by any person or body other than a permissible donor.

One of my main learnings from the ME/chronic disease space is how many people with other chronic diseases are also in desperate need of effective therapies, and how long that work has taken. So news like this is fantastic. 👇
B-cell depletion, rebooting the immune system, is emerging as potentially curative for some refractory autoimmune diseases. But that has mainly relied on complicated, time-consuming, laborious ex vivo (outside the body) methods. Today @NEJM all 16 patients with refractory autoimmune neurologic conditions, including 7 with progressive multiple sclerosis, had clinical and biologic improvement with single dose in vivo (inside the body, off-the shelf lentivirus vector) B cell depletion. nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NE…
