One of my favorite things about Swift is how its type system encourages better code. Prefer structs for value semantics. Use enums to model mutually exclusive states. Let optionals make missing values explicit. swiftwithmajid.com/2021/04/0…

We encounter bugs that are very hard to catch in the debugger from time to time. For example, it might occur only after a few days of app usage. Logging is an excellent technique to track and understand user actions through the app. swiftwithmajid.com/2022/04/0…

Did you know that we can change the default presentation placement of sheets since iOS 27 and iPadOS 27? It’s easy to do, and besides iPad, it can also work on iPhone in landscape mode. You can read all about it in my new quick tutorial! serialcoder.dev/swiftui/chan…

iPhone Duo became the first folding iPhone providing us with two displays of different sizes and aspect ratios. This week, we will talk about adapting our apps to different screen sizes using simple techniques that Apple UI frameworks provide us. swiftwithmajid.com/2026/10/1…

I usually set up three build configurations for every project: Debug, TestFlight, and App Store. They vary in both settings and features. I’ve been adding feature flags so new work shows up in Debug and TestFlight builds, but not in the production builds. swiftwithmajid.com/2025/09/1…

Toolbars play a crucial role, especially with the recent update to the design language where we have a content layer and the UI controls layer above it, or even with iPhone Duo providing vertical bars. swiftwithmajid.com/2026/06/2…

SwiftUI’s .task modifier provides a clean and efficient way to manage asynchronous operations within the view lifecycle. It handles task cancellation, reacting to value changes, and easily implements debouncing using structured concurrency. swiftwithmajid.com/2022/06/2…

I choose to code by hand today, here’s what happened: First hour felt terrible, barely remembering anything, looking up almost everything. Second hour it became a little smoother, I was writing more code without looking up. Third hour, magic happens… muscle memory kicked in, I got into flow state, spitting code block after code block like it was 2024 again. It was one of the most joyful moments I had in a long time. The work I produce in 3 hours would probably take Claude 15 minutes or so, but man, it felt good. I mean REALLY good.

if you want to make a really good iOS app, just buy the Duo as the testing device! i've been testing Tasks on all orientations of the Duo and don't even have to launch the iPhone/iPad simulator separately anymore!

Corner radius can be asymmetric on the iPhone Duo, the Concentricity APIs introduced in iOS 26 allows you to manage that 😌

I just launched a new app that makes food logging super easy and stress-free—and it’s part of #shipaton! Please give it a try and leave a review if you enjoy it. Thanks for the support! apps.apple.com/us/app/platep…

The new iPhone Duo makes adaptive layouts more important than ever in SwiftUI. With AnyLayout, you can seamlessly switch between horizontal and vertical layouts while preserving view identity and state. swiftwithmajid.com/2022/08/1…

Safe areas are now asymmetric on the iPhone Duo, so be careful if your app has code that assumes symmetry 🫣

Some observations after yesterday's hands-on workshop. 1. iPhone Duo is amazing. Feels magical. Defo getting one. 2. The new form factor and all the poses and layout combinations increase the surface area for UI testing immensely.

Backporting SwiftUI APIs lets us use new features without raising the app’s deployment target; depending on the API, this may bypass availability checks or provide custom implementations for older versions. swiftwithmajid.com/2026/09/2…

Xcode 27.1 RC includes iPhone Duo simulator without Apple Health app. The question is how we should prepare our screenshots?

App Store Connect just dropped a new update. You now can control how your app appears in search results, as well as set product page header images (like big apps have been able to for a while. Another nice quality-of-life update is they made it so you can now finally preview what your app looks like in the App Store to see if your screenshots will actually line up right. AsyncSequence isn’t just for streams of events. It can also be a great way to model data loading — producing values as they become available and letting the UI progressively react to them. swiftwithmajid.com/2026/09/2…
