Who are the people who sit in committees and propose these regulations. What possible motivations drive them to make these insane laws which inhibit physical activity and damage population health.

Hong Kong has been reintroducing anti-Japan curriculum, mostly around WWII (and see the redesigned coastal defense museum). I've lived in Japan and China, the people are at heart respectful of each other as both Govs promote nationalism.
The horrific killing of a Japanese student in Shenzhen is indicative of growing xenophobia in China following years of state-encouraged nationalism, particularly vis-a-vis the US and Japan. aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/19…
