We are extremely proud of Headwall’s performance yesterday in the Everest.
Beaten by less than a length against the world’s best sprinters, he gave us a huge thrill as he stormed home down the outside, fighting all the way to the line.
He’s a very special horse for his owners and connections and we’re grateful that we get to play a part in his racing career.
Thank you Max, Col, Neil and Steve for your faith in the horse and to Kerrin for a super ride.
Finally, a big thanks to our hardworking team who’ve done an incredible job to get this horse back to his best.

Great to see our Racing Operations Manager Rugbi Murray profiled by Horse Jobs and The Straight.
He’s an important part of our team at Matthew Smith Racing and we’re lucky to have him!
From a young boy riding lead horses in Cowra to working on the biggest stage in Australian racing and now helping manage a professional Sydney stable, Rugbi Murray’s story is a strong reminder of what a career in the thoroughbred industry can offer and how far a willingness to learn, work hard and seize opportunities can take you.

YES YES YES 💪
Maybe Moet (ex Hunter Cheerleader) says YES for @mcsmithracing, scoring her fourth career win at Rosehill with a strong finish under @nashhot. She’s now closing in on $200k in career prizemoney and becomes her sire’s 27th winner of the season👏

“It’s always difficult to get a horse back when they’ve had a lengthy spell."
The fact Headwall is in peak shape for Saturday's #TABEverest at Randwick is something Matt Smith is proud of. Now he hopes he'll run to his best. 📸@Bradley_Photos
STORY: tinyurl.com/37k6xz5n
We love seeing horses formerly trained by Matt thrive in their second careers, and we were delighted to sponsor three of them at this year’s Equimillion competition.
Moralist - affectionately known as Momo - raced 48 times for seven wins, 12 placings and over $218,000 in prizemoney. He wasn’t the easiest horse to ride on the track but now he cruises around the cross country course like a lamb and has become a much loved member of the family at Luskin Park.
Sweet Thomas aka Tommy or Tom Tom started his racing career in Germany before joining the stable. He’s a two-time Listed Stayers Cup winner and was Group placed multiple times. He’s a little quirky but equally lovable and he’s found himself a fantastic forever home with the Irwin family.
Former Hungarian Derby winner Esti Feny won the Listed Mornington Cup while in our care and now calls Luskin Park home alongside Momo. He amassed over $635,000 in prizemoney during his racing career and is taking to his new life as a show jumper with ease.
A big thanks to Liv, Tom and Oliver for doing such a great job with the boys and flying the flag for Team MCS.

Team MCS was out in force over the weekend at Equimillion.
A big congratulations to our Luskin Park rider Tom Irwin and two-time Stayers Cup winner Sweet Thomas who finished 4th in the 80cm open show jumping class.
This is the duo’s fourth year competing at the event and the third time they’ve taken home a cheque.
Great work Tom and Tommy!
Wrapping up the long weekend with a double on our home track.
Millie De Lune bounced back to her best under a lovely relaxed ride from Zac Lloyd, bursting through on the inside and showing a great turn of foot for a stayer.
Soon after, Fierceness and Zac made it two in a row this prep, overcoming an awkward draw to flash home down the outside for big win.
Congratulations to all our owners and connections.
Great to see Thorsten break his maiden at Newcastle yesterday with Jess Taylor in the saddle.
It was fast and furious over the 900m but he was every bit the professional and got the job done in style.
Congratulations to Kim and connections.

Congratulations to Sushil Kumar who was awarded Best Turned Out while strapping Portland last weekend at Rosehill.
Sush is a much loved member of Team MCS and he does a wonderful job caring for the horses.
Well done Sush!
