Why telemetry should stay private Telemetry doesn’t need to be public to be useful. That’s an easy detail to overlook when running infrastructure. @get_optimum Gateway separates the network traffic a validator needs from the information operators use to monitor their Gateway. The difference is important. The Gateway uses port "33213" for mump2p network communication. Port "48123" is for telemetry, including health checks, metrics, and Gateway information. The interesting part is that these serve completely different purposes. The network needs to reach the Gateway. Your monitoring dashboard doesn’t. Keeping telemetry local means operators can still monitor the Gateway with tools like Prometheus and Grafana without unnecessarily exposing the metrics endpoint to the public internet. There’s also an authenticated remote push option when Optimum needs access to logs or metrics for support. To me, this is a good example of infrastructure being designed around separation rather than simply making everything reachable. Public connectivity where the protocol needs it.
