Wednesday fun fact:
If Gina Hinojosa wins the Texas governor race, the Texas redistricting case will become known as LULAC v. Hinojosa come January.
The Supreme Court has once again stepped in (for a third time) and restored Missouri’s 2022 congressional map in lieu of the gerrymandered 2025 map.

Here’s the Supreme Court’s per curiam opinion. No noted dissents.

The 8th Circuit has ordered Missouri to use its gerrymandered 2025 map for this year’s congressional elections.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court pauses a federal district court order that directed Missouri to use a gerrymandered 7R-1D map for this year’s midterms. The midterms instead will be conducted under the old 6R-2D map. No noted dissents.

Today in Missouri redistricting news
BREAKING: The Eighth Circuit DENIES the intervenors' request to block Judge Clark's TRO.
The panel includes two Trump appointees — Stras and Justin Smith — and a GHWB appointee — Loken.

But wait, more from Missouri:
A federal district court has blocked Missouri from going back to its old 2022 map as ordered by the state supreme court.

In redistricting news . . .
Supreme Court, via Justice Kavanaugh, rejects Republican attempt to use a newly-drawn congressional map that the Missouri Supreme Court said last week could not be used. This means the 2022 (6-R, 2-D) map will be used:

Also this today on the redistricting front:
MARYLAND REDISTRICTING:
Supreme Court of Maryland rules that voters will get to decide on changing the rules for congressional redistricting. The court orders a tweak to the ballot language.
This is a win for pro-redistricting Dems.

A redistricting twist as the Missouri Supreme Court orders that state to use the old 6R-2D map for this year’s midterms rather than the redraw 7R-1D map adopted by the legislature last year.
The new map would have gerrymandered Black Democrat Emanuel Cleaver out of his Kansas City area district.
