Was saying to take profits for BTC and alts at 90K, and enter again higher than 90K and ppl were making fun of me buying “higher”. They bought near the temporary high. Now they are probably going to sell at the temporary lows. Congrats, now you know why you’re poor!
⚠️ WARNING: There are a LOT of misconceptions going around about protecting your crypto from the future quantum threat.
I keep seeing people say:
“Just move ALL your crypto to a new address and you're safe.”
That's NOT how it works.
This precaution I'm talking about applies specifically to BITCOIN address types where the public key remains hidden until you spend.
For long term BTC holdings:
Move your Bitcoin to a fresh, unused bc1q address and DON'T spend from or reuse that address.
Why?
With native SegWit bc1q addresses, your public key can remain hidden on chain until you spend.
A future sufficiently powerful quantum computer would have a much easier target if your public key is already exposed.
If you eventually spend from that address, move your remaining long term BTC to another fresh address.
You can do this inside the SAME hardware wallet or seed.
BUT here's where people are getting this wrong:
⚠️ NOT ALL BITCOIN ADDRESSES WORK THIS WAY.
Taproot addresses beginning with bc1p expose public key information differently and are considered vulnerable to a future long exposure quantum attack.
So I would NOT use bc1p Taproot for this particular precaution.
⚠️ AND THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL CRYPTO.
Different blockchains use completely different account and cryptographic models.
Examples:
• BTC bc1q: public key can remain hidden until spending.
• BTC Taproot bc1p: public key information is exposed differently, so simply never spending does not give you the same protection.
• ETH: if an Ethereum account has already sent a transaction, its public key can be recovered from the signed transaction. A brand new ETH account that has only received has some additional protection, but Ethereum itself is working on post quantum migration.
• ZEC: Zcash's shielded technology gives strong privacy benefits, but Zcash is NOT currently quantum proof. It is actively working on quantum recoverability mechanisms.
• NEAR: NOT quantum proof today either. NEAR currently uses elliptic curve based keys, but the protocol is actively developing quantum safe signing schemes as part of its roadmap.
So please don't blindly move “all your crypto” because somebody said fresh addresses solve the quantum problem.
They don't.
This is specifically a sensible extra precaution I'm taking with my LONG TERM BITCOIN holdings.
And one more important correction:
This threat is QUANTUM COMPUTING, not simply “AI cracking Bitcoin.”
No quantum computer today can break Bitcoin or Ethereum wallets.
I'm doing this because it's easy, cheap and gives me peace of mind while the industry develops proper post quantum solutions.
No panic. Just sensible preparation.
