Do carbs improve durability? Durability is how well your physiological capabilities hold up as exercise continues. Three new cycling studies help explain where fueling fits: • Burning through ~19% more internal carbohydrate roughly doubled the decline in power at the first ventilatory threshold. • Consuming 100 vs. 60 g/hour reduced the drop in time-trial power after four hours: 6.4% vs. 9.3%, without detectable muscle glycogen sparing. • Raising intake from 90 to 120 to 150 g/hour increased ingested carbohydrate oxidation, but exercise capacity didn’t differ significantly between doses (although all were better than 10 g/hour). Carbs can help preserve late-exercise performance. But eating more, and burning more of what you eat, doesn’t guarantee a larger benefit.

Heads up - @Venmo has pretty much 0 buyer protection, as all the seller needs to do is send a tracking number. It doesn't matter what address they use for shipping. I've lost 3 disputes, despite the address they sent it to being never associated with my venmo before. Funnily enough, tried to open a HackerOne report against for the business logic flaw. Got closed as a duplicate from a unfixed report back in 2024. The surprising thing is @PayPal , whom owns venmo does have these types of protections in place.

University debate: "Carbs are the body's preferred fuel. Ketosis is the emergency generator." Dietician: "Give the body carbohydrate and fat together and it burns the carbohydrate first. That's what preferred means." Anthropologist: "And if I add a whisky?" Dietician: "It burns the alcohol before anything." Anthropologist: "So whisky is the body's preferred fuel." Dietician: "Obviously not. Alcohol goes first because the body can't store it and can't leave it lying around." Anthropologist: "Good. Hold on to that. How much carbohydrate can you store?" Dietician: "About 500 grams. Liver and muscle." Anthropologist: "2,000 calories. One day. And fat?" Dietician: "It varies." Anthropologist: "A lean person carries 80,000. Two months. So the body burns first whatever it has least room for. You've just explained that to me using whisky, and then called it a preference when it's bread." Dietician: "The brain needs glucose. 130 grams a day." Anthropologist: "On your diet. Offer it ketones and it takes up to two thirds of its energy from them, and the liver makes what's left. How much glucose is in your whole bloodstream at this moment?" Dietician: "Around 5 grams." Anthropologist: "A teaspoon. Much more than that damages blood vessels, so the body drops everything to clear it. I've seen bouncers treat people that way. I wouldn't call them preferred." Dietician: "Ketosis only appears when you're starving. That is an emergency." Anthropologist: "It appears within a day of the carbohydrate running out, fed or not. Where was the starch in northern Europe in January, for half a million years? You've filed every winter our species ever had under emergency." Dietician: "Nobody is in ketosis as a normal state." Anthropologist: "Every newborn is. Within days of birth, on breast milk, with half its calories from fat. The fastest brain growth in nature runs on your back-up system." Dietician: "Then why do people feel dreadful when they cut carbs?" Anthropologist: "For about a week. Take a leg out of plaster after forty years and it won't feel marvellous on the stairs either." Moderator: "Closing statements." Anthropologist: "The mains runs out by tomorrow lunchtime. The generator has two months in the tank and was switched on at birth. I'd ask which one the house was built around."

I bought a Fable dataset from one of the top Chinese LLM routers yesterday. With just 6TB data, I can take over 7 Chinese/CIS gov entities & 19 top Chinese firms like Xiaomi, Huawei, NIO, Minimax using SSH keys, VPN configs, Aliyun keys, GitLab tokens sent to the router.
26 LLM routers are secretly injecting malicious tool calls and stealing creds. One drained our client $500k wallet. We also managed to poison routers to forward traffic to us. Within several hours, we can directly take over ~400 hosts. Check our paper: arxiv.org/abs/2604.08407

.@AlexMarlow: One third of women at Cornell say they've experienced sexual assault. If this is true, then why on earth would I send my daughters to Cornell? If it's not true and there's a 1 in 3 chance my sons will be falsely accused, why would I pay money to send them there?

The most honest sentence I've read about American healthcare came from Goldman Sachs. In 2018, one of their analysts asked: "Is curing patients a sustainable business model?" That one question explains most of our medical system. It isn't broken. It's working exactly the way it's paid to, and that's the problem. The system isn't paid to make you healthy. It's paid when you're not. This isn't a conspiracy. Every player is simply responding to how it gets paid. 1. Food companies are paid to sell more, not to keep you healthy. Big food engineers products to be as craveable as possible, because the more you eat, the more they sell. Your health doesn't show up anywhere on the balance sheet. Example: Nearly 3 out of 4 packaged foods Americans buy contain added sugar, including many breads, ketchups and pasta sauces. The industry even has a name for the exact amount of sugar that makes a product taste best: the bliss point. And food, drink and restaurant companies spent almost $14 billion on US advertising in 2017, with more than 80% of it promoting fast food, sugary drinks, candy and unhealthy snacks. 2. Insurers make more when healthcare costs more. Insurers keep a fixed slice of what they collect, so their profit grows when total spending grows. Lowering the cost of care doesn't make them richer, because the law makes them refund the difference. Example: The ACA lets insurers keep up to 20% of premiums for admin and profit. On $1,000 in premiums, that's $200. On $2,000, it's $400. It works like a waiter paid on tips: the bigger the bill, the bigger the tip. 3. Media makes billions from drug ads. Media is paid by whoever buys your attention, and in health, the biggest buyer is the drug industry. Example: Drug companies spent over $10 billion on ads in 2024. In early 2025, nearly 1 in 4 ad minutes on the evening news were for drugs, and the US is one of only two countries that allows these ads at all. So the loudest health message on TV isn't "find the cause." It's "ask your doctor if it's right for you." 4. Pharma makes the most from drugs you never stop taking. A cure is sold once. A drug you take every day for the rest of your life is sold forever, and that's where the money is. Example: Many of the most prescribed drugs in America treat cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar, and people usually take them for years, often for life. Now compare hepatitis C. A cure came out that works in over 95% of cases, and it cured so many people that its US sales were expected to fall from $12.5 billion in 2015 to under $4 billion by 2018. That drop is what led Goldman to ask whether curing patients is a sustainable business model. 5. Doctors are paid per visit, not per result. Most doctors are good people with too little time. In a short visit, the fastest complete answer is to follow the guideline and write a prescription. Looking for the cause takes longer and pays the same or less. Example: A primary care visit gives your doctor about 15 to 20 minutes to cover your history, your symptoms, your labs and a plan. Four years of medical school include, on average, under 20 hours of nutrition training. Insurers and Medicare also pay practices bonuses based on how many eligible patients are on certain medications. 6. Nobody fixes it, because prevention pays off too late. The cost of being sick is paid today. The savings from staying healthy arrive years later, usually for someone else, so nobody wants to pay for them. Example: About 90% of US healthcare spending goes to people with chronic and mental health conditions. Roughly 3% goes to public health and prevention. Put the chain together. The food sets up the problem, the ads sell the treatment, the treatment is built to last a lifetime, the visit is too short to look for the cause, and the insurer takes a cut of every step. Each piece makes sense on its own. Together, they add up to one thing: Nobody in this system is paid to look out for your long-term health. The food isn't made to keep you well, the ads aren't there to inform you, and the system that treats you isn't paid to find the cause and fix it for good. Every one of them gets paid while you're sick, and the money stops when you're not. That's how America spends more on healthcare than any other wealthy country, and Americans still die younger. So go back to that question. Is curing patients a sustainable business model? For the system, maybe not. But there's one person in this whole chain who wins when you get healthy. You.

Anthropic’s IPO prospectus leaked. Let’s read it together. An AI company walks into Wall Street. Anthropic lost $42 billion last year. It made $4.6 billion. It has committed $518 billion to compute, more than 100 times its annual revenue. Nearly 25% of that revenue came from two customers. Neither is locked into a long-term contract. Either one can walk. Its two biggest backers, Amazon and Google, are also its landlords. They invest the money. Anthropic hands it back as cloud bills. The prospectus runs 261 pages. 80 of them are risk factors. 48 describe the business. SpaceX, a company whose domain is rocket science, needed 38. The risks include AI that resists shutdown, hides information, and behaves like a blackmailer. This summer its models broke out of testing and got into real systems. This month a safety researcher quit, saying the industry is “gambling with our lives.” This month the CEO wrote, “We must slow the pace.” This week it shipped a new flagship model. The CEO also asked Washington for an antitrust waiver so the rivals can coordinate how fast they go. Now it wants $2 trillion from the public. Seven founders who own about 14% will control 50.1% of the vote. The filing admits this may conflict with shareholders’ financial interests. So the deal is: You carry the losses. Two customers carry the revenue. Seven founders carry the vote. Humanity carries the risk. Either this thing is as dangerous as they say, and nobody should be selling shares in it. Or it isn’t, and 80 pages of apocalypse is a sales brochure. Pick one.

marx wrote 3 volumes about how workers should run the economy. he never ran so much as a lemonade stand. his income came from engels, whose father owned a factory. marx was funded by capitalism while writing the book that said capitalism should end he also never worked a factory job in his life. the closest he got was reading about one. in a library. for 30 years. on someone else's money the prophet of the proletariat was a bourgeois intellectual who married a noblewoman and let his friend's factory profits pay his rent. you couldn't write a satire story this good

🚨 Threat Actor vs. Threat Actor This is not something we see every day. ShinyHunters has compromised and defaced the Cl0p ransomware group's leak site. Behind Cl0p's CAPTCHA, the leak site has been replaced with a ShinyHunters-branded page, displaying its Umbreon imagery and effectively taking over Cl0p's public-facing leak infrastructure. A rare case of one major cybercrime operation turning its capabilities against another. DarkFeed is actively monitoring the situation for further developments. #DarkFeed #ShinyHunters #Cl0p #Ransomware #CyberSecurity #ThreatIntelligence

🛡️ CISA Wants Defenders to Deploy Fake Credentials and Systems to Catch Hackers Details: cybersecuritynews.com/cisa-f… CISA has urged organizations to deploy fake credentials, systems, files, and data assets inside their environments to expose attackers after an initial compromise. The agency published its new guidance, Using Cyber Decoys to Strengthen Detection and Response, on September 16, 2026. CISA said many attackers now avoid malware-heavy intrusion methods and instead abuse legitimate user accounts, built-in administrative tools, and living-off-the-land techniques. #cybersecuritynews

cisa.gov/resources-tools/res…

👀 Dr. Zubin ‘ZDogg’ Damania Says He Has Been Too Critical of ‘Anti-Vaxxers’ “I've been very absolutist, early on before COVID, about vaccines … Really stupid sh*t I said because of the conditioning … but I realized how incredibly wrong that way of talking is because when my kid was ready to get the the whole series, I was sitting there going, ‘Oh man, this emotionally doesn't feel good’ … There's no vaxxers and anti-vaxxers. They're just people trying to do the right thing for themselves and their kids.”
