Love colleges GAA, last night @TCDGAA overhauled a 6 point lead from @DkITGAA to win the Div 2 senior league final. Two good teams, taking fantastic scores, including (sorry!) 4 from 4 frees by @RoryMcErlean1 @Naomhbridclg, pic with fellow fresher Tom McCarroll @CarryduffCLG

Dave, Andrew and Basil ran a brilliant business, it was how independent retail should be done - still continuing to this day as ‘Andrew Watson’. Dave loved his city and became an excellent President of @BelfastChamber. He gave a lot back to Belfast. Dave Pennick RIP. – at Belfast, Northern Ireland

Very sorry to report that Dave Pennick passed away yesterday morning after a short illness. For those of a certain vintage, Dave’s Howard St men’s clothes shop, Carter, was the only shop in Belfast to go to. 1/2

This is a very poor decision. The business bulletin is an essential part of a lengthy news programme which is supposed to reflect all of society. Business and the economy is a huge part of life in NI, deserves its platform.

Brilliant from @Neilmcmanus88 - yesterday he lifted the @UlsterGAA senior club hurling championship for @RuairiOgCLG and tonight he’s in Belfast honouring a commitment to present @Naomhbridclg hurlers with their medals. That’s what the GAA is about. Grma Neil. @AontroimGAA

It’s understood that of the £185m Barnett consequential for NI, as a result of the Autumn Statement, £75m will go towards the overspend & so will not be available for spending this year. The fate of the remaining £110m will be confirmed early next year.

For many years I’ve looked at this treasured lane gated off at both the Waring St and High St ends. Now, it’s going to be reopened - that is brilliant news - many congrats to all who have made it happen, I can’t wait to walk along it. – at Belfast, Northern Ireland
◾️Opening soon..... 🟩 'Sugarhouse Entry' contained the most famously radical of all the drinking establishments in Belfast of the 1790's, called Peggy Barclays. (Dr Franklin Tavern) 'It had plenty of rooms where one could eat, drink and be merry...the fertile oyster beds of Carrick & Comber supplied the dainties and in all Ireland there was no better rum to be found than hidden in Peggy's cellar'.. ◾️The Belfast United Movement would regularly meet upstairs discussing revolutionary change across Ireland. It also had its informers...always listening...always betraying. 🟩 Soon to reopen after 50+ years of being closed. Citizens can now traverse in the footsteps of UnitedIrish leaders Wolfe Tone, McCracken, Neilson and Russell et al. #SugarhouseEntry #1798 #Enlightenment #Equality

Just looking at @NIOgov pr on the forthcoming investment summit..two figs I hadn’t seen before - NI ‘attracted’ £19.2bn of (new?) inward investment in 2021 - evidence? And the 2021 UK Global Investment Summit raised £10bn & created 30,000 new jobs - how many in NI? @JP_Biz

With @MatthewOToole2, had a great meeting with US Special Envoy NI @joekennedy about shared priorities. Skills, childcare & North / South potential are the keys to unlocking the economy & prosperity. We were at QUB for official opening of the impressive new School of Management

Some telling findings about our young people’s attitudes to education, the availability of drugs, paramilitary control and a lack of support for our politicians - in another excellent report from our one independent think tank here @PivotalPPF – at Belfast, Northern Ireland
Thank you to all the young people who took part in our recent survey on life, work and study in Northern Ireland. Thanks also to the youth organisations who shared the survey. Read Pivotal's findings from the survey here 👇pivotalppf.org/cmsfiles/Publ…
