RT Wall Street called it the "SaaSpocalypse" - a bet CIOs would build AI to replace SaaS. I disagreed. So I attended 9 conferences in Q2 to see how SaaS is actually deploying AI agents. Here's what CIOs need to know. #AI #CIO @Star_CIO cio.com/article/4189693/how-…

"A CIO who is in the detail of technology, right into the technology, is no more than an IT director. They are not a CIO." A member of the C-suite drives how the business moves forward. #CIO #Leadership drive.starcio.com/podcast/do…

I agree the gap is widening with incredible acceleration. We're already at a crossroads with physical AI (#robotics) meeting AI and robots becoming the "edge devices of the future".

A4: It's hard to make predictions for 2030 but I hope business transformation will be accelerating way beyond digital only, with #PhysicalAI going mainstream and enabling abundance at scale. #CIOChat

#CIOChat Q3: Evolving Architecture to suit dynamic business models as they evolve. Architecture is the new "moat"

A3: I see a lot of the World changing the #CIO having to chnage but the funding models struggling to keep up which then causes considerable friction. #CIOChat
#CIOChat Q3: For many CIOs, transformation is no longer a standalone program but a permanent operating condition they must foster + oversee. Are you evolving funding models, governance, architecture, and operating models for continuous vs. episodic change? If so, how?

#BoDs shouldn't be telling management "how." (Noses in, fingers out). But more than ever, Boards should understand enough tech to drive strategic disruption--that might just need some novel technology from an astute #CIO. #CIOchat

Very interesting, Wayne. The “how” of DT is coming second at last. “What” seems to be the priority. I do see boards are demanding AI transformation to beat their peers, but little these days on “how.” #CIOChat

💯 beat me to it! BoD is the C-suite's customer. Customers telling their suppliers "how" is always fraught with danger. #ciochat

A3) Continuous, large and small a agile processes, and process improvement at every level. A #DataDriven enterprise is always surfacing new insights and exploring new introspection methods. Holistic, global optimization is a never-ending process. #CIOChat

A3. I agree that 'transformation' has gone from episodic to continuous as the world moves faster and chaos increases. Funding model = tighter biz alignment Governance = adaptive rather than static Architecture = more AI than ever (which means more 'data' than ever) #CIOchat

A2: If DX is actually business transformation, #AI is means to an end, and a box to check for many. The priority still is serving the business with agility, efficiency and automation. That being sad, it's the tool with most transformative potential right now. #CIOChat

A2) #AI has been a part of #DigitalTransformation for decades. Rule-based expert systems, intelligent scheduling optimizers, etc. were key to attempts at it going back to the early '90s. Just another cycle with bigger $$$ attached and new pressures on the "right tool". #CIOChat

A2: AI is another tool, yes it has big implications, and news ways of transforming, but its still a tool. You work out how to use it and you apply it to change the business. #CIOChat
#CIOChat Q2: Has Digital Transformation really just evolved into mostly AI Transformation. Or is AI part of a larger journey to reinvent the org? How are your CIO priorities shifting among AI, cyber, resilience, productivity, growth as the latest transformation agenda emerges?

Well, as you know, lumping is quite common when it comes to IT spend stats and I suspect that’s the case there. Virtually everything in business is digital experience in some form now, so that’s the tent pole these days. #CIOChat
