ALT “Let’s acknowledge that as adults, our learning is our responsibility. It is not the responsibility of another person to educate me. We own our learning, or we own our ignorance. It is that simple. If we were not taught what we need to know now, we can lament that fact, but we cannot use it as an excuse not to engage in the learning we can do today. If we choose not to learn, we are responsible for that choice.”

ALT We invite educators to consider how they will take ownership of their learning to ensure their students receive a quality education that honors their whole selves: What does it look and feel like to take ownership of your learning? What is your plan to fill any gaps in your understanding and knowledge to ensure you can provide each student an education that honors them? Continue learning with us during our next Breaking Bread with LiberatED featuring Jo Chrona–speaker, education consultant, Indigenous education advocate, and author. Jo is Ts’msyen (a member of the Kitsumkalum First Nation) through her mother, and has European ancestry through her father. Jo is Ganhada (Raven) of Waap (House) K’oom. Join us on Dr. @DenaSimmons’ IG Live on 10/16 at 4PM PT/ 7PM ET for their conversation about Jo’s book, Wayi Wah! Indigenous Pedagogies: An Act for Reconciliation and Anti-Racist Education, and how “Indigenous knowledge systems inform our teaching practices and enhance education.”
