I have thought so often of Mamie Till, and what her heart must have felt not only at what was done to her son, but at the choice to hold an open-casket funeral and bring the world face- to- face with the evil. I cannot fathom the depth of suffering, or the courage.

Happy Birthday to Emmett Till. He would've been 82 years old today. At just 14, two white men kidnapped and brutally murdered him through mutilation for 'whistling' at a white woman. decades later, Carolyn Bryant admitted to lying that Emmett Till made a pass at her. THREAD

"The Constitution is color blind" ... but this other thing, happening around the same time, called slavery and it's long standing impact, wasn't. And still isn't. The fact that judges truly think laws = reality makes me believe my toddler could also be on the Supreme Court.

Venus is still my favorite Williams sister … a little more humble and gracious. But, damn Serena, bravo.

Some politicians could skip the long words and just say: "Hey you don't get paid maternity leave or paid childcare and also sorry about the formula shortage, just breastfeed. Oh, you have an ectopic pregnancy? That sucks, sorry you can't end it. Enjoy the wage gap!"
