We need a Convention of States because Washington has proven, repeatedly, that it will not meaningfully restrain itself.
This isn’t really a Republican vs. Democrat issue. It’s a question of incentives.
We expect members of Congress to voluntarily limit their own power, limit how long they can hold that power, and limit how much money they can spend.
Why would they?
Congress is not going to impose meaningful term limits on itself.
Congress is not going to force itself to balance the budget.
Congress is not going to willingly surrender powers that Washington has accumulated over generations.
We’ve been waiting for the federal government to fix the federal government.
That’s the problem.
The Founders anticipated that possibility.
Article V gives the states a constitutional mechanism to propose amendments when Congress refuses to act. It requires applications from 34 states to trigger a convention for proposing amendments, and any proposed amendment still requires ratification by 38 states.
That is an extraordinarily high bar.
And it should be.
Changing the Constitution should require overwhelming agreement.
But consider what could finally be put before the states:
Term limits for Congress.
A balanced-budget requirement with carefully defined emergency provisions.
Real limits on federal spending and debt.
Limits on the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.
Potential restraints on an unelected administrative bureaucracy that has grown far beyond anything the Founders could have imagined.
None of this requires Americans to agree on every political issue.
You can be conservative, liberal, libertarian, independent, or politically homeless and still recognize a basic truth:
No institution should be expected to permanently police its own power.
Elections matter, but elections alone haven't solved the structural problem. We replace politicians while leaving the same incentives, the same debt machine, the same permanent bureaucracy, and the same concentration of power in place.
Article V provides another constitutional check.
Not revolution.
Not abandoning the Constitution.
Using the Constitution.
The states created the federal government. The states were also given a constitutional mechanism to restrain it when Washington becomes unwilling to restrain itself.
A Convention of States requires 34 states.
Ratification requires 38.
We're closer than many Americans realize - 20 states are on board already
The question now is whether we keep asking Washington to voluntarily give up power...
or whether the states finally use the constitutional authority they were given to impose limits Washington will never impose on itself.

I love how after every school incident involving a gun, the Democrats come to Social Media to opine for more gun laws.
Oregon is a DEMOCRAT state.
Gun Free Zones are a DEMOCRAT thing.
Oregon has pretty strict gun laws.
The shooter obviously doesn't care about laws because Murder is against the damn law.
Just so stupid.

For the record, because CJ got a bar complaint, we have referred him to our HR rep, Alicia. @GFALAWRYAN is working on a stern talking to. CJ has received one demerit. Let's put it this way. He does not want to receive three of those. Three demerits, and he'll receive a citation. Five citations, and CJ is looking at a violation. Four of those, and he'll receive a verbal warning. Keep it up, and he's looking at a written warning. Two of those, that will land him in a world of hurt, in the form of a disciplinary review, written up by Ryan, and placed on the desk of his immediate superior. Which would be CJ.
We take these complaints seriously.

Zelensky needs to go.
🚨 BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Elon Musk doubles down on calling for Zelensky to be OUSTED as President of Ukraine after refusing elections and pushing to keep the war going
ELON: "And so the slaughter continues…Time for Zelensky to go." 🎯
President Trump himself has called for a NEW LEADER because it's clear at this point that Zelensky is the main roadblock for peace.
Zelensky seems to have a SELF-INTEREST in keeping this war going forever because it means no scrutiny and no facing the people!
It's obvious at this point. Putin isn't a good guy by any means, but Zelenskyy is just as bad if not worse
Replying to @stephanegaddis
Zelensky is who they created, to hide their corruption, Putin is playing his own game.

Forget purchasing an AR-15.
Get yourself an AR-10.
It’s 5 AR’s safer.

Listen up. To everyone crying about the raid on Ilhan Omar's home will amount to nothing - you're totally wrong.
It takes MONTHS just to get to this point. Lots of digging, investigating and following up on leads - all just to get a search warrant.
Now it's going to take MONTHS to comb through the evidence gathered and follow up on that. Then they'll have to refer it to the DOJ who will then have to make a case from all of the evidence.
Now factor in how fast the courts work just to get hearings - we're still 9 month away from anything else happening.
Things are happening, but the FBI is under no obligation to provide play-by-play updates to the X crowd.
I understand why there's almost no faith in our institutions, but this is how they get the faith back.
