Dawson was in Garland Police Department Academy Class #60 with me. I’m torn that his life ended this way but I know he served proudly. RIP brother 🙏🏾
REST IN PEACE | Officer Cooper Dawson died Tuesday morning after he was shot while pursuing a suspect. He is the first Greenville officer to die in the line of duty in 100 years. TRIBUTES: wfaa.com/article/news/local/…

Keep up the amazing work, Brie @_briellek 👏🏾I’m proud of your accomplishments and have no doubt there is more to come!
🚨 Excited to spotlight the next generation of firearm researchers at the #2024FirearmResearchConf! A key goal of the Research Society for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms is to nurture emerging scholars shaping this field. 🎓First up, Brielle Savage (@_briellek), a PhD student with @RutgersU Newark and @NJGVRC. Research Interests: Firearm-Related Homicide Survivorship, Firearm Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, Illicit Firearm Carrying Why research firearms? I My lived experience both professionally and personally, give me a unique perspective on the impact of firearm violence. I chose to pursue this avenue of research because I have witnessed the immediate and lasting effects firearm violence has on individuals and entire communities. I’ve seen how communities are left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of violence; as well as the barriers and challenges that individuals are presented with in the aftermath of violence. My hope is that my research will help inform policies that address the root causes of firearm violence, leading to programs and funding that support healing and foster a culture of health and equity, particularly in marginalized communities most affected by firearm violence. @sonalirajan @dsemenzcrim @PsychBrownBag

If you’re attending the @ASCRM41 conference in San Francisco this week, it will be worthwhile to sit in on a powerful author-meets-critic panel discussion for retired NYPD Lieutenant @EdwinRaymondNYC book, An Inconvenient Cop: My Fight to Change Policing in America.

Late post because I recently discovered the article exists. Last year, I had the privilege of testifying as an expert witness in a murder case involving violations of the California Racial Justice Act. The article below provides insight into the case. localnewsmatters.org/2023/09…

What an honor to be invited by Dr. Rosemary Gido “Mama G” to the PA Prison Society’s Love Above Bars event. She was recognized for being Editor of The Prison Journal for 25 years! It was heartwarming to hear from fmr juvenile lifers, a state rep, & fam of an incarcerated lifer.

As I commemorate Juneteenth, I must also express my sincere gratitude to @ETSInsights for inviting me to give a talk on the history and significance of this day. I'm also thankful to the Office of DEIB, and ETS staff who took time out of their day to listen, reflect, and engage.
