Young people actively hate AI. My two younger daughters are 19 and 18, both at universities - one in the UK the other in Italy. Through them, I happen to know quite a few kids their age. And ALL OF THEM seem to universally hate AI. To them it's "something old people invented that we now have to deal with... as if climate change wasnt enough" AI is cringe. When they introduce me to their friends, they literally say "heyya, meet my dad, he's a software engineer but nonono, NOT IN AI, dont worry, hahah". They hate it for flooding their social feeds with slop, ruining music, taking phone scams to the next level, also destroying careers & devaluing their hobbies - why become an architect, this skill is about to become worthless? Why learn a musical instrument if session musicians are already obsolete? The outcome is interesting, though - they're spending less and less time on public social, meeting up IRL, moving their online lives into private group chats with actual verified friends. TikTok and Reels are increasingly cringe-something for old dudes. Which, I guess, might be a net positive after all...

Why are these balaclava'd thugs called 'settlers'? They either live in illegal encampments or aspire to. And commit crimes of violence against people seeking to examine what they do.
Israeli settlers have attacked a European diplomatic mission in the West Bank, a day after a separate assault left an American photojournalist with broken vertebrae. Representatives from France, Belgium and Poland said that the settlers pelted their vehicles with stones, while a French mayor reported being assaulted during a visit to a Palestinian Christian village. This footage was likely filmed shortly after the attacks 👇 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

I admired Kate Adie, John Simpson, Orla Guerin, Fergal Keane etc. They travelled the world to all sorts of conflict zones, often taking great personal risks. It was what the media agencies have asked for as well. Besides, there is a cease fire now, so why no access?

Genocide supporters act like no one has ever lived through or experienced a televised war before. “It is perfectly normal for media to be denied access to a war zone” Err… no it isn't, and nor was it ever normal! There is a supposed cease-fire now, and still no access!

Or he has an even more nefarious agenda. Europe’s American ‘ally’ is either a cynical opportunist, an appeaser or worse. He is no longer on Team Free World with his most recent pro Russian conduct.
Donald Trump is threatening to cripple Ukraine in its survival—and to expose Europe to Russian aggression—seemingly for the pitiful prize of minimising his losses in next month’s midterm elections economist.com/leaders/2026/1…

Heidi Levine has lived in Israel for 43 years. And raised her 3 children there… I am pretty sure she’s not a fucking terrorist.
The journalists at the @washingtonpost should themselves be investigated by the Israeli police and the @IDF as to who they are traveling with, their contacts, including relationships with terrorist organizations, foreign antizionist radicals and extremists, and their exact role in potentially inciting or instigating or engaging in violence against Israeli civilians.

It's interesting that we go through all these different methods to optimize AI inference (sparse attention, linear attention, quantization, context cleanup, etc.) and then it turns out that gzip, a compression algorithm that dates back to 1992, can give you a 3x speed boost. Makes me wonder, how much low-hanging fruit is there that has not been leveraged yet in AI inference optimization?
We keep improving performance across Claude, and you may have noticed it starts responding sooner! Claude Code now gzips the conversation it sends on every turn, so it reaches the model faster. Cloud sessions also start up as soon as you start typing.

On yet another a week when Russian missiles and drones have been killing innocent civilians in their beds the White House actively made it easier for them to do so. Let that sink in. The White House
NEW: The order to limit a satellite system used by Ukraine for battlefield communications and drone operations came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.

Severe settler + soldier attack on olive harvesters in Abu Falah. American WaPo journalist Heidi Levine badly wounded. Machine gunfire—at least one Palestinian shot. Tear gas. Soldiers assaulting journalists.

What happened starting in 1980? Mass Privatisation. So instead of your wages being decided by what your Government could afford and what you earned, you are paid as little as possible to maximise profit.

The whole concept of this is absurd on its face. If you don’t coordinate a visit to a tiny Palestinian village with the IDF, you are liable to be attacked by feral Israeli settlers
The IDF strongly condemns the severe act of violence that took place in the area of Taybeh, during which diplomatic representatives were attacked by Israeli rioters. Police forces and forensic investigators from the Judea and Samaria District are entering the area accompanied by IDF soldiers and will begin collecting findings and evidence, as well as taking testimonies, in support of an investigation that has been opened. The consulate's visit was not coordinated with the IDF. Such coordination is important to prevent incidents of this kind. According to a preliminary inquiry, no IDF soldiers were present at the scene at the time of the attack. The report was sent to the brigade operations room, which is designated to receive reports from security personnel only, and not from civilians. The operations room receives dozens of operational reports each day and responds only to authorized personnel, not civilians. It should be emphasized that other designated channels are available for civilians to submit complaints. All circumstances surrounding the incident will be examined.

Banks making profits purely on interest rate margin and not taking risks by lending out to grow the economy. What they may lose on their sovereign bonds the Bank of England compensate them on these margins. The only industry that makes above average profits in good and bad times. Years ago this was not the case. @andyburnham @EdConwaySky @faisalislam @martinwolf_ @graceblakeley

Right wing concept of fairness and compassion. Everyone knows that taxing windfall profits from banks or energy companies is bad and you should always focus on the poorest, weakest and most disadvantaged if you want cash.

“The Ministry expresses full solidarity with all those targeted and commends Belgium, the EU, its member states, the UK, and other countries that have condemned settler terrorism. It urges them to take concrete action, including sanctions against perpetrators and those who enable them.”
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Condemns Settler Terrorism Against Diplomats, Church Representatives, and Civilians, Calls for Urgent International Action The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the attack carried out by a group of Israeli settlers near the town of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, targeting a diplomatic delegation that included the Consuls General of France and Belgium, a representative of Poland, other diplomats, and representatives of the Catholic Church. The attack also involved the assault of a French mayor and damage to a Belgian vehicle. The Ministry stresses that this incident is further evidence of escalating, organized settler terrorism targeting Palestinians, their land and property, as well as international diplomats, journalists, religious leaders, and solidarity activists. Such attacks are facilitated by the protection afforded to settlers by the Israeli government and the continued absence of accountability. The Ministry holds the Israeli government, as the occupying power, fully responsible for these attacks and calls for an immediate end to settler terrorism, the protection of Palestinian civilians and international representatives, and accountability for all those responsible. Condemnations alone are no longer sufficient; concrete and deterrent measures are urgently needed. The Ministry expresses full solidarity with all those targeted and commends Belgium, the EU, its member states, the UK, and other countries that have condemned settler terrorism. It urges them to take concrete action, including sanctions against perpetrators and those who enable them. The Ministry stresses that settler terrorism is rooted in settlement expansion and forced displacement, in violation of international law. It calls for urgent international action to end impunity and the occupation, halt settlement activities, and secure the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination through an independent state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office: The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation. Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable. But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual. The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence. We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.

For the 2nd time this week Netanyahu blames the victims of being attacked by settlers
The Prime Minister's Office: ALLEGED ATTACK ON EUROPEAN DIPLOMATS: SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS REQUIRE SERIOUS EVIDENCE. We urge caution before drawing conclusions from today's reports that European diplomats were attacked by masked Israelis in Judea and Samaria. Any violence against diplomats is unacceptable. The more serious the accusation, the greater the demand for compelling evidence. Here is what we know: - The diplomatic delegation entered a sensitive area with a history of confrontations without prior coordination with the IDF, as officially confirmed by the military. Such coordination is essential to protecting visiting diplomats and preventing violence. - The visit included Bernard Baudoux, a French Communist Party mayor who previously raised the Palestinian flag over his municipal building, prompting French authorities to order its removal. - Published footage shows masked individuals confronting a diplomatic vehicle. Separate images show a smashed window and a person lying on the ground. These images alone do not establish the complete sequence of events or individual responsibility. Those circumstances remain under investigation. - Israeli police and forensic investigators have launched an investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible. These reports come amid concerns about a coordinated campaign to smear Israel and the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria during the annual olive harvest, relying on sensational headlines before the full facts emerge. We may see further allegations in the coming days. By the time the evidence is fully examined, the reputational damage from premature conclusions may already be done. We call on the public and responsible journalists to demand verifiable evidence, reject hearsay, and refuse to turn unproven allegations into a collective indictment of the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
