SQLite is the most underrated tool in the world. I've solved many problems using MySQL/Postgres/Others when a simple SQLite database would have been enough. I've learned my lesson. SQLite is faster. SQLite is easier to use. SQLite scales like crazy. You can't solve everything using SQLite, but I'm convinced you'll be better off using SQLite as the default unless you have a good reason to look elsewhere.

I started residency at 44. I'm lazy abi? But I was a regional head of the Zenith Bank HMO, (overseeing almost N1 Billion naira in inflow) at 35. Does that matter? Nope. Cos everyone has their pace/path. Residents, reject unnecessary pressure. Life na jeje.

No matter how desperate you are, don’t forget your value. Those who don’t value themselves end up being more disasters.

Be bigger than your problems ~ Try not to avoid, get rid of, or shrink away from the things that you struggle with. Instead, grow yourself so that you’re bigger than any problem you face.

You are in a good job paying well. Use a % of that money to invest in your personal brand. Design your website, record content if you don’t mind the camera, curate and share your thoughts here. You may be so good you can’t get fired but your industry can be affected and you get laid off. Like I read on here recently, your job security is not about you not losing your current job (it’s not fully yours to control), it’s your guarantee to get a new bigger one if you ever have to leave the current. Invest in your personal brand. Don’t get lost in the sea of your colleagues. Don’t just be 1 out of 1000 employees. You are more than a number. You are you, but what does that even mean? Tell us. Show us. Let’s keep a room for you in our consciousness.

This was quite instructive. The one thing I learnt in my consulting days was - never negotiate when you’re hungry.
Few months ago, i had a prospect from Linkedin, who told me to charge cheaper because, I’m from a third world country, he called it “the international price” We reached out to this prospect through Linkedin. He was interested. I was spending about 15 hrs of my day editing and doing outreach, as well as my copywriter. This guy picked interest, we set a call for the following week, I missed it. I reached out to him, there was not much enthusiasm, so I did something. I followed him on IG, I took raw footage from it, and spent about 4 hours editing it, then I sent it over to him. He was so shocked and loved the video, he said sure let’s hop on another call. We did, and everything was going great. I explained the process of how I work and the process, and how much time I spent editing videos. So we got to the point of price, At that period my set package was $1,500, but i was desperately in need of that cash, i was still struggling to get one client then, so i told him, I’m willing to charge $1,000 since it was our first time, but subsequent times it would be $1,500 He was like that’s fair, because if he was hiring someone in the states for what I am offering he will be paying $3k to $4k. It was at this point he started to find a way to low ball me, He first said, seems I was using AI to do the edits. He is sure it won’t take more than 30 mins for one video, I didn't know what it was at first. So I explained, saying No. I do this manually and this takes 3-4 hours on 1 video. He said okay, he said how about we do $800 first month, i didn’t like it but i accepted once more. He said, “I’m happy to pay you later on if this works out, you know I’ve got the US DOllars man” I laughed it off as a joke, it was a good though, for real. He said he is coming to me because he wants that “international price” and don’t blame me, i get sarcasm most times, but I’m slow a lot of times also. So I laughed at that, I didn't think deep into it. We finally agreed to $800 and I was about to send the contract when my zoom time expired. SO i went back to Linkedin to finalize since we agreed on $800. Only for him to start asking me, “Let’s do $200 for 4 videos, if these videos work out and i go viral on tiktok, I will sign the $1,000” I tried to explain to him, no social media doesn’t work like that, it requires consistency. This is why I offer my services in packages, because it needs commitment over 30 to 60 days. Because one of the things that comes with my services is me writing the video scripts, i remember on the call, how he tried to say i won’t be able to do the scripts part well also. I said we do our research and we will be working with you, to get bullet points, we can turn into longer words. He said nah, I won’t really get it. I told him to let me think it over, because I was in a desperate situation. It was during this overnight thinking my brain began to boot about the things he was saying on the call, in order to justify why I should charge him less, and I was like. Naturally I wouldn't even want to work with this person, we will have troubles at the end. I needed that money so badly, but I went back the following morning and told him, Seems like we are not a good fit for each other, so I will pass on this offer, if he can’t commit to what was agreed earlier. I was so proud of myself, but I was still broke. So I moved on to the next prospect, doubled down on my work, i was able to close another that week to sort out the issue I had. I’ve learnt that it’s hard not to compromise and sometimes you’re in a sh1tty place where you can’t really avoid some prospects or clients. Most times you have to be able to say No regardless to save yourself a lot of trouble I'm trying to scale my Agency to $10k a month and I'm sharing my journey on the way there, you can follow to see what works and what doesn't. For those who asked about the training to learn shortform editing and TikTok Growth PS: this doesn’t cover how to get clients, just the skill needed bit.ly/growviralagency

To attract better you have to become better. Can't keep doing the same things & expect change. Transform your mindset, upgrade your habits, and think positive. It all starts with YOU & how you feel about yourself!

Find it and NEVER lose it. It is one thing to have an advantage and it is another thing when it becomes a threshold competence. Everything improves for most people and the world in general. What was an advantage to a few quickly becomes commonplace. Innovation does that. Innovate
Everybody has an unfair advantage. Find yours and use it in your favour. Yours might not be money, or connections, heck, it could be the opposite actually. But every single person in this world has an unfair advantage, and if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find yours.

STACK OVERFLOW JUST ANNOUNCED THEIR OWN AI!!! OverflowAI is a tool, that will also have a VS Code plugin. The way this works, if you are on the site and ask a question, it will produce the answer for you while also citing the sources it used to produce the answer. You can then ask more in the conversational area, even including code, and through Generative AI it can continue building off of the answer. This is the right move on their part and I am confident a lot of people will be trying it out. Everything releases in August! Great job @StackOverflow. Really great announcement at the @WeAreDevs Conference!

I love this question! Here’s how you can set realistic goals and deadlines for yourself: 🧵 1. Connect your goals to a "why." What is the purpose of your goal? Why is it important to you? Having a strong "why" will help you stay motivated when things get tough.
