Why We Call Our Daughters ‘Son’
Have you ever wondered why we use the word बेटा (beṭā) to address our daughters instead of बेटी (beṭī), and why पुत्र (putra) is used in many contexts to mean child or offspring, rather than specifically son?1/3

Two more IIT Bombay students took their own lives this year: Naman Agarwal (February, Civil Engineering, Bania) and Sohil Sangwan (July, Materials Science, Jat). There were no protests, no mention of Rohith Vemula, no demands that the director step down, and no professor faced any legal action.
Why does the reaction change so sharply depending on the student’s caste?

How much do you wanna bet he was a quotadhari despite clearly being from a financially stable background?

It will have long term disastrous consequences if the director of @iitbombay resigns. The director and the institute cannot held responsible by any stretch of imagination if a student commits suicide after caught cheating in the exam.
As the news flow over mainstream and social media at the moment, the institute did not take any disciplinary action and rather counseled the student. What more an institute can do?
If we want to build strong characters, and maintain academic integrity and standard, we cannot simply accept that it is okay to cheat in the exam.
I am deeply concerned about the dilution in the academic rigor that has already happened in IITs over the years. Now if the director resigns, the dilution will get a further boost.
Institutes should not respond to knee-jerk reactions in the social media. Rather they should focus on building robust frameworks to address issues.
